Agree that the shoulder buttons (esp with Mario Kart where ridiulous amounts of token mini-boosts/corner drifting is encouraged)cause some slight discomfort. You really have to stretch/warmup your fingers before playing that one.

Was really suprised by this having enjoyed Nintendo's intuitive and comfortable controllers since the NES days.

Well the size of it for me is a turn off. I have large hands and still have my original large Xbox controllers for this reason. Sure it may work well in the asian markets, but if I'm spending more time trying to get a comfy handle on a device/controller then I skip it.

This is one of Nintendo's biggest money making tricks. Look at the original Gameboy Advance. It was unplayable unless you stood directly under an exploding nuclear power plant or pointing airport landing beacons at its surface...so naturally the fans begged for a redesign. They ended up making the smaller, more attractive, BACK-LIT "SP" version of the GBA...thus forcing every single gamer who had the original machine to buy the new one. That is, if they actually wanted to use it in light less then what you'd see beneath a galatic-wide super nova.

Yet, this time, I don't think they have such a case for a redesign. The DS is pretty perfect the way it is. Well lit screens, semi-comfortable, small, and capable of wi-fi gaming. (Although it uses a crappy standard)

So, basically, I think Nintendo has become overconfident that their little "Re-design" trick will work again. It won't, sadly.

Oh, and I suck at Mario Kart online. Must be old age.

lol, if they make it any smaller the shoulder buttons will probably be a bigger pain to use.

i don't think it's fine the way it is... it is adquate but i would really like it redesigned somehow so it doesn't strain my hands in games where you need to use the shoulder buttons a lot (mario kart is a real hand strainer).

unfortunately i dont want to pay for it

I can just see the PR screaming 'WE MUST MAKE IT SMALLER!'

Is it me or is Nintendo the King of Recycling in the gaming industry?

I think it would alienate the fanbase a little if they just redesign the thing, especially after it sold out this last holiday.

Why does everyone care so much about a redesign? I really think it's fine as it is.
