When I bought my current phone 2.5 years ago, I was the only one using the 'Old Phone' ringtone, but lately I've been hearing it more and more. Hardly ever hear the little blighters going off in the theatre anymore either, so I have to agree with Cynips; us here in Old Europe are (Finally) starting to inch away from the horrid ringtone craze.

I'm getting the impression that it's slower here. Probably because of the system where you have to pay on the receiving end. And for some reason people don't use SMS as much which I personally think is perfect when you're not sure if the person can answer (driving, bad reception, etc), he/she can answer whenever they have time and you often get off much cheaper than compared to a call where you usually have to through the social thing of greetings and small talk. Ring tones certainly had it's bad times in Sweden where I come from but I think most peeple now use the vibration thing instead of sound. Not to mention having beeps for whenever you press a key, a sure sign of a cell phone n00b |

That is because in the sates people are more interested in getting annoying loud and stupid ring tones that shows off their horrible taste in music, then new fancy phones. Maybe it is because I want a phone, not a gadget. I don't want screensavers, MP3s, text messaging, etc, I just want a phone that gets great reception and has good battery life. I don't care if it is 0.001 or 1.0 inches thick or weighs twice as much as the next guy's, I just want a phone that's a phone and does it's job well.
The only exception to that would be that it is nice to have a camera built into it for emergencies or the rare situation that I want to take a low-resolution photo and I don't have a camera with me.

Funny to watch the cell phone evolution in the States seeing much the same as I've watched in Sweden, only 5 years or more earlier. There are basic differences though that make the whole cell phone thing different here.
Was the evolution as slow as it's apparently being in the US? I know the world outside the the US is giddy with gadget and high technology cell phones, but I was quite a bit stunned at what a "basic" cell phone in Japan offers compared to Stateside. We still have a long way to go.

On the other hand, if it had happened in a movie theater... Hopefully, after the first one, everyone else in the theatre would turn theirs the fuck off?
Na, who am I kidding?
Reminds me...I got to see Steven Wright in Vegas a year or two ago. He comes out, and starts right into the routine, no "thank you" or "nice to be here" or anything. Suddenly, it's the 1980s all over again.
About 3/4 of the way through the show, as he's talking, someones cell phone rings. He ignores it, and goes on.
5 Minutes later, it rings again!
And Steven, in that same deadpan, animated corpse voice he has, says:
"You gonna turn that fucking thing off, or are you waiting for the battery to die?"
The crowd went wild!

Police initially said that the 24-year-old Blue Springs woman had swallowed the cell phone after an argument with a man early Friday morning in a strip-mall parking lot. So a guy shoves a cell phone down a woman's throat in a parking lot. This, of course, is a very, very bad thing.
On the other hand, if it had happened in a movie theater...

Something about the light makes them come to the top. Actually, the light indirectly attracts the fish. The light does attract plankton and bugs which attracts minnows which attracts the bigger fish. I guess if the fish were around enough bright lights at night they would eventually start going "Pavlov" on the light itself.
We used to do a lot of night fishing for crappies (it's the name of a fish, so quit snickering ;)) by hanging lanterns over the side of the boat and you could actually watch it happening as one thing followed the other.

thanks for the info about 32 bit vs 64 bit.
I tried a pci video card and that works. Leads me to believe may be possible conflict between video card (radeon x300 se 256 mg pci-e), and motherboard (A8AE-LE Motherboard). I'm looking for a site that might mention this conflict. I got the bios update for my board as well.
I guess it's just a coincidence it's happening again. I was having the same problem with my old computer and old video card. I figured buying all new hardware would fix it. It's crazy that that didn't even work.

Everybody tells me that it's probably the 3d card, but what are the chances that MY card is the 1 in a billion that came off the assembly line broken?! I don't believe it Heh, you have way to much faith in the manufacturing process if you think the chance is just 1 in a billion ! It's not especially uncommon for video cards to turn up screwed, and it's not especially difficult to get them RMA'd (returned to the manufacturer for a replacement) if that's the case. Of course, the store may also replace it for you.

I've seen the catfish farmers out on the catfish ponds with a spotlight at night. I've heard they do that when feeding them. Something about the light makes them come to the top.
Yup, it's called....wait for it....wait for it....spotlighting. The Indian Tribes here in MN got in trouble a few years back for doing it at night, on top of NETTING! SO they would use very bright lights to bring the fish to a certain area, then put a net around them.
Which is ok long ago before technology - but a very good way to wipe out fish in a lake in recent times.

Anyone know enough spanish to figure out what they did to get those fish to go crazy? Maybe it was the Top Gun Music? *shrug* I happen to work with a pro bass fisherman who's seen this before - as a matter of fact, in broad daylight. This is probably a reservoir that's been drawn down so far that the fish have to bunch up anywhere that there is still enough oxygen.
If you notice, they don't start going crazy until the guy hits the side of the boat - the light doesn't really do it. They're so spooky that when the guy hits the side of the boat the fish are basically just panicking trying to get away, and the only way is up. It just turns into a big chain reaction as more fish wack into the boat. Pretty funny to watch.

Glad I have it on DVD. If you ever get to watch the special that was done, there are a lot of "should have been outtakes" that made it to the real show. Hilarious.
