Out of the Blue

Hey, look at that... it's my birthday today! Though I am but a day older than yesterday, I get to claim another year today (as if I needed to be able to do that). I suffered a minor poisoning from some Chinese food last night (from a different restaurant than last time!) so depending on how I feel later, we may or may not go out this evening. Anyway, I got a nice present from the Giants yesterday, as they whipped up on the Eagles, and fine final Episode of Rome, to boot, so my celebration is off to a roaring start.

Speaking of “chineese” food…and since I am a health nut I can not, not mention this.

Smart Ones Sweet & Sour frozen chicken tv dinner/entrée are absolutely great!
http://www.eatyourbest.com/products/product_results.aspx?Prod_ID=88#
Taste really good, very low in fat and sugar (and so amazingly low in calories for the amount of food). Very filling and so damn quick and easy.

It is not for Z and his unwashed heathen self not liking Sweet & Sour chicken…but for anybody else that does and are somewhat interested in your health. There ya go.

Ohh yeah….again I have to say how damn good this stuff is!:

And low fat, calorie and sugar too!

Should we all chip in and buy Blue a copy of Jack Thompson's book? (And some lighter fluid?)

Do not forget the sweet and sour pork or chicken!

Don't care for sweet and sour sauce -- tried it repeatedly, don't like it. Heather likes it though.

General Tso's (of various spellings) is also good. But the local Chinese restaurant we like has a really insanely good Sesame Chicken -- better than any other I've tried.

I have not been to any Chinese restaurant (in dozens of states) be it full on fancy restaurant or fast food style that it is not done very freakin fast.

Yeah, but I'm talking about a mall place where all the food is pre-made. Some of those suck, but I've found a couple that are good (there's one in the mall near where I work that proclaims itself to be "Cajun" -- although all the workers are Asian and it comes with steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles. I love the Mango Chicken and Jambalya Chicken). But yeah, woks cook anything incredibly fast.

Oh.. and steamed rice here for both of us.

Sesame chicken isn't the only thing I like -- pretty much anything spicy, and various fast-ish food Chinese places have spicier variants of sesame chicken that's really nummy.

Do not forget the sweet and sour pork or chicken!
And around here in every chineese restaurant we have something called General Tso's chicken. It is like the sesame chicken only better!

As far as fast food? I have not been to any Chinese restaurant (in dozens of states) be it full on fancy restaurant or fast food style that it is not done very freakin fast. We are talking woks here….as hot as those things are it is impossible for it to take long!

*edit*
Who gets the steamed rice and who gets the "flied" rice?

1) How dare you suggest sushi to a pregnant woman!
To be honest I was unaware sushi was a no-no when pregnant. But the wonders of Google confirm it. http://www.babycenter.com/expert/pregnancy/pregnancynutrition/2284.html for anyone that wishes to know why.

2) We are not a fish eating family (despite Heather growing up in Florida). Neither of us care for seafood.
Bah... heathens I demand you eat oysters immediately. Seafood, raw (alive, in fact) and... tasting rather like something out of your nose. How could you not like it?!

Chinese food is funny, sometimes the cheap and cheerful Chinese restaurants are awesome (some of the ones in Chinatown in London are fantastic and £10-15 all you can eat) whereas you can quite easily pay £40 a head at a good (though not top class) Chinese and leave the place not full and not satisfied.

And maybe Blue is just allergic to cat.

Na, it was MrsBlue who was alergic to cats. That's why they have dogs.

I guess of all my uncles, I liked Uncle Caveman the best. We called him Uncle Caveman because he lived in a cave, and because sometimes he'd eat one of us. Later on, we found out he was a bear.

Don't ever tell the Giants that they are supposed to win - unless you want them to lose in quite spectacular fashion.

That's exactly what I've been saying about the Seahawks. I've been wanting the press to ignore them and until this last week they have (although I still saw some people have them ranked behind the Cowboys and Falcons, whom they beat). But anyway, the minute the sports press start mentioning things like home field advantage through the playoffs the Seahawks try to lose to the Niners (who, like I'd heard before, play very hard).

Raw fish on cold rice pressed into a cube is most appetising.

Responses:
1) How dare you suggest sushi to a pregnant woman!

2) We are not a fish eating family (despite Heather growing up in Florida). Neither of us care for seafood.

3) Raw? We greatly prefer the flavor enhancements of burning substances (preferably wood) which cause heating and searing of aforementioned non-fishy meats.

And to be clear -- yes, it was Heather (not the friends) who finally got me to go to a Chinese restaurant and enjoy it. Sesame chicken isn't the only thing I like -- pretty much anything spicy, and various fast-ish food Chinese places have spicier variants of sesame chicken that's really nummy.

As for Japanese resaurants -- she's talking more about Bennihanna (sp?) style Japanese steak houses. They're ok, but I find them to generally be very pricey for not a great deal of food (and mediocre food to me; I'm willing to pay for quality). It's a nice show if you've got a good chef, but overall an "eh" for me.

Well, then I can see why you wouldn't like Quake 4 MP. I'm an old Quake 1-player myself, also liking HL2DM but I can't seem to get the CSS experience. Maybe it's because I'm simply too bad at it and don't have the patience converting to that kind of gameplay. Especially if I die early in matches all the time, not exactly my idea of fun.

So instead it's what? BF2? I'm also curious as to why "old school" isn't doing it for you any more. Simply boring?

I only enjoyed flying the choppers in BF2 and didn't like infantry combat, so I stayed away. In-general I prefer multiplayer games with modern era weapons, CoD2, CSS, etc over fantasy or sci fi weaponry. But overall my interest in all of them has been falling and Ive mostly been interested in good single player experiences and just jump on CSS if I desire my multiplayer fix.

I just can't go back to playing "old school" DM/CTF in multiplayer anymore and I was thinking that I could.
