i downloaded the demo and i wish it didnt have a damn timer on it. also, the instructions could be a little more clear on what to do next, i spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get to the crater to set up my base. i didnt know that the tips at the top of the screen were mandatory to follow to get to the next step.
it really does seem like it will have a lot to offer though. pretty cool. -goes back to play the other side-

thats what i needed to hear, thanks bro.
Don't take my word for it. I'm one of the few who liked Perimeter :p
The interface DID resemble a hybrid of the C&C, Dark Reign (2) and Earth 2150 ones, though.

I dont have the demo but do have the euro import and I can tell you this is not a game you can just sit down with and figure out without instructions in 45 min. No fking way.
I will try to offer some general advise on how to go about getting troops and stuff running.
The common thing with all the races except aliens are that every faction has to build a base, build a troop componet, build a refinery or warehouse, build energy "most important", and every race should also look into defense and its different for all the races.
Ok the aliens are just that alien they dont mine they dont research, they dont build bases, there mobil and build lots of defensive structures and also are able to morph into several different configurations depending on what stratgy you might need to deploy, totaly unique and takes alot to get used to controling them and fighting agianst them.
Next up are the other 3 factions of which all have simular needs, they need to mine "either combination of metal & water or Rock and water, depending on the faction, the way to tell is to look up top on the screen, youll see icons up there right in the middle that tells you what minerals you need for that race to function.
Some of the factions troops can teleport out of there base and others need you to build a exit depending on what race you have control of.
this is a very complicated but good game compared to what most ppl get in america, I would say its a little over the top but I do like it very much indeed, esp the skirmish modes.
But its a crime to release this without a manuel or some kind of tutorial.

Dated graphics? Are you sure you're thinking of the right game? I thought that the graphics were some of the best in any RTS.

and the graphics looked very dated.
Eh? I thought it looked better than AoE3.
Then again, maybe the engine's more optimized than AoE3's (hate the bloom effect btw) and my PC can't really handle the latter (on high detail) :p
Edit: As I'm from the C&C crowd, I thought the controls and interface were self-explanatory and very easy to use. Wonder why people have problems with them. This comment was edited on Nov 14, 15:09. |

Time-limited demo |

I believe this demo also comes with a 45-minute time limit. No idea why that would be as it's an RTS, not turn based.
I already have the demo and tried it but was unimpressed. Controls were clunky and half the time I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. And then when it came time to add buildings to the base structure, I really got lost. Couldn't find things, couldn't select troops from within structures, couldn't quite figure out how to mine for resources, etc. All this while under pressure thinking I had only 45 minutes made for an unsatisfying experience.
I'll give it one more go at some point, though.

okay, i will try the demo. i'm hoping this isnt the game i tried the demo of about 6 months ago. which was a bit clumsy to play.
what other RTS's had a name similar to this one? maybe the numbers, or the title Earth..? and think it was similar in design/look/era etc.

I tried out the demo and though it seemed kind of interesting, I was turned off by the production values. The sound and voice acting in particular were terrible and the graphics looked very dated. Normally I'm not a graphics over gameplay person, but I just couldn't get over these. And though apparently the demo is lacking some of the game's best features, I was unimpressed by the gameplay it had. It did seem very run of the mill.

This game is utter trash. 2150/The Moon Project is 10x better.
They're just trying to rip off Starcraft; the alien race functions almost identically to the one in SC.
The unit voice sounds are HORRIBLE. NONE of the ED people have Russian accents! They ALL sound like AMERICANS!!!
Where's this critical acclaim, by the way? And how on Earth did you manage to get that 9 in the title?

This is actually the sequel to the sequel they've been working on lately. There are many enhancements in this game, as you would expect from a game making the revolutionary industry-first leap of 19530 game years since its predecessor.
Of course, the best enhancements come out of the wars of 11530 and 19001.
The gameplay is a bit dull, though, as the main character/hero unit is a transcend who can warp space/time with a mere thought. He's managed to bring back Earth after its destruction by gravitational forces and reposition it in its proper orbit around Sol. However, as the game begins, the main character is feeling a bit ill after some bad mexican food at El Burrito Loco. Time is running out and your race must escape to the moon (again) in order to survive!

Demo doesn't do the game justice! Some of the best features (ex. custom units, advanced units) aren't in the demo. I have my retail copy on order and hope to recieve it tomorrow. About time!!

anyone have any thoughts on this one? just reading the unit list makes me happy, i hope the game isnt too complicated and more like C&C "fun".
