Am I the only person here who enjoyed playing messiah ?
I liked it too. Sure, it completely failed to live up to the hype, but it if you treat it as an action-platformer with an innovative twist, you'll probably find it enjoyable.
Shiny's been coasting on their 'reputation' for years now.
Really? If I recall correctly, Sacrifice was a great game. Messiah may not have been great, but it was certainly a good action-platformer. On the console front, Wild 9 was also a good action-platformer. However, once Shiny started doing franchise work and pumped out ETM, their good reputation was flushed down the drain. Before ETM, I never played a Shiny product I didn't enjoy.

When he said stolen, I took it rhetorically or as stealing the ideas.
If you are trying to make out like he is suggesting stolen as Eddie Murphy stole Coming to American script, well your welcome to your oppinion but you must be trippin.
There are side by side comparisons on the Net of the costumes and sets. Dark City came out Feb 1998 and The Matrix on March 1999, 13 months later.
BTW I still have fond memories of Shinys MDK, but Enter the Matrix must have been more accepted on consoles (from the high sales) as I dont recall many that liked it on PC.

You both are internet n00bz! let me skool u!

How about that. I guess the only thing the wachowskis ARE guilty of, then, is rewriting their original endings and leaving the Matrix intact in the movie, all so they could have Monolith create what has to be the biggest MMORPG turd ever to disgrace the Internet. Good job!
The game has looked very interesting, I have to say though. But I REALLY need some good recommendations before I'll play it. Enter the Matrix looked really good too... (then again I did sorta enjoy playing the PS2 version of that.)

From what I heard, this game has a drug induced ending. Basically, right after Smiths "This is my world speech", the game stops and two terrance and phillip like versions of the wachowski brothers show up and begin talking about how they never got to do the original ending in theatres because it was too "videogame" like, but since this is a video game, they got to do it.
And then the crazyness hits the fan; all the Smiths, along with a crapton of junk, mearge into a giant Mecha-Smith, who then grabs a giant pair of sunglasses off a billboard and puts them on.
Good. God.

Is there a hotkey that allows me to stare at nothingness and say "Woah." in an exceedingly bland, generic fashion? If not, there's no way I'm buying this game.

This game is a lot of fun, combat is well done and it's fun being Neo.
Much better than Enter the Matrix for sure.

Ahh okay. I must have read the article they cited. Well, there goes my theory as to why each movie was a ten times worse than the previous one. Thanks for the correction.

| Dark City and The Matrix were similar thematically, but The Matrix wasn't "stolen" from Dark City any more than it was stolen from Plato's Cave. There was a woman, though, who sued the Wachowski brothers, claiming that they had stolen her idea. Her screenplay had something to do with a third eye or something. I recall that the suit seemed frivolous and didn't appear to be going anywhere. I'm sure you can google it. |

Dark City is the movie your thinking of, a very good movie even now, go rent it if you havent see it. Directors cut coming out in 2006, according to Ebert in this "Great Movies" article... SPOILER WARNING
http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051106/REVIEWS08/511060302/1004
I believe more than ever that "Dark City" is one of the great modern films. It preceded "The Matrix" by a year (both films used a few of the same sets in Australia), and on a smaller budget, with special effects that owe as much to imagination as to technology, did what "The Matrix" wanted to do, earlier and with more feeling.

While Dark City and The Matrix are both similar movies, to say that The Matrix stole its entire concept from Dark City would be wrong. It would be like Armageddon stole its idea from Deep Impact.]
You fucking n00bs, Matrix was ripped from the anime classic Megazone 23 which was released back in 1985!

While Dark City and The Matrix are both similar movies, to say that The Matrix stole its entire concept from Dark City would be wrong They were filmed at the same time, and shared a few sets, I heard...hence, they look a bit alike in parts.
