Exaggerations and assumptions are not the same thing. Clearly, Riley, you haven't been taught that.

Some idiot said "Basically the only people who don't care for Starforce are people who are pirating the software anyway. There are a few people who use it for other purposes but lets be realistic here."
=======
I don't care for any protection on the games that I purchase, thank you. I do not appreciate the developers turning me into their pet poodle that must be forced to fetch my own CD/DVD and put it into the drive each time I play. I never buy a game that doesn't have a NOCD patch released for it.
I didn't mean to single out Starforce, this applies to all inhibitive protection schemes dreamed up by developers.

Riley, go ahead, make a list of the assumptions I've posted. Here's a good one:
Your posts are all assinine assumptions. All of them. You are obviously too obtuse to understand my previous allusion, so I will spell it out. I have made 932 posts including this one. All of them are NOT assumptions let alone assinine ones. To label them as such is an assinine assumption on your part which is the exact thing of which you accused me.
Clear enough for you?

Hellbinder, how the fuck can you give a demo a positive review when you're completely unable to play half of it? You know something, i've noticed that you seem to spend more time defending shitty games on these boards than anything else. Why the fuck should we care about anything you have to say when you think BC3000 and UCAWASUQUEWR are good games? It's like trusting a food critic who enjoys the taste of dog shit.

Dude seriously, I think you have a bigger problem there
Normally I would agree. In fact, with any other piece of hardware, I would 100% absolutely agree, and never suspect dodgy drivers. With Creative, I don't even bother to look in any other direction. It's the drivers. Just trust me on that.
Two other friends have Audigy cards as well and one does in act have his surround cut out every once in a while and has to reconfigure it, but we've never had our cards disappear from Device Manager
Oh, it doesn't disappear. Oh no. It just forgets one of its retarded six parts. (Seriously, what the fuck is up with that? Why is your sound card showing with SIX different fucking names in my device manager? Why doesn't it just show as "Creative Soundcard?" Why does it show as "Creative blablablabla, Creative wavetable emulation, creative supersynthesis, Creative digital sound, creative soundblaster, creative..." WHAT THE FUCK?) And one of them will just... forget it has a driver. That's all. Most of the times, it will just forget it's actually an EAX card. You know, the company that MADE EAX? Yeah, their card will forget it's an EAX card. YOU'RE FROM FUCKING CREATIVE, HOW CAN YOU FORGET YOU'RE AN EAX CARD?? And so, every game that's set to run in EAX mode will not have sound. Switch to any other type of sound? Works fine.
Reinstall the driver, and the thing is good to go (well, I just restore my Ghost backup, since it goes faster). And then it will work for another xx amount of time. Actually, the 21-30 days is probably not true, it's been at least two months or so since the last time it fucked up. But it will. I'm sure I'll come home tonight, turn on my computer and the soundcard will have forgotten something.
And sure, it could be a dodgy slot. Or a dodgy card. But I've had this issue in my previous computer too. And I've had it with Creative's cards all the way back to the Live!32. Faulty hardware? Possible, but very unlikely. For one, if I just switch to a different type of sound, or even emulation, the sound works like a champ. So what, the EAX "chip" took a break or something? This is just shitty drivers. 100% guaranteed.
(so why'd I buy one then? Well, I KINDA hoped that with the Audigy they had fixed their issues, plus the AC97 sound codec that's standard on most motherboards is REALLY awful. I'd gladly get a soundstorm or ViaEnvy sound chipset, but 99% of the mobo manufacturers just put SHITTY sound on their board because nobody cares anyways.)
And yes, I do know how to install hardware and drivers. Besides, I've seen this issue happen for other people as well. Like I said, it's random. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I see people swearing they've never had ANY issues with ANY creative soundcard (Which I think is bullshit, but okay. I mean, if you ever crash to the extent where everything is garbled, and there's this horrible noise coming from your speakers, your soundcard just completely trashed the kernel level in your OS. It takes some quality programming to do that. Programming that's normally only capable by Nvidia or ATI. But Creative daringly challenges them for the Shitty Driver Crown.) And I've seen and talked to people for whom the cards just fucking suck. And all their symptoms generally indicate those fucking Creative drivers.
"We have eleven guys with a Phd in music!" the creative spokesmonkey blabs. Too bad you have zero guys with an even marginal skill in writing a fucking driver.

Yay Creative! no shit. I'll be heading off to Turtle Beach on my next soundcard upgrade. How Creative got to be #1 in the industry is baffling.

Of course, when I saw how many post there were in the thread, I knew one of two things had to be going on. StarForce, or flaming.

Re: No subject Oct 7, 16:13 Caelistis It's cool, CAP.
I am sure the IGN forums will welcome you back with open arms. So please explain to me, what exactly about my post wins me this prestigious award? The fact that PC Gamers are very critical people ? Do you actually dispute that?
Do you take everything so literally that you can't see a bit of sarcasm or cynnicism in my post? Your whole effort today was spent telling people that you think I'm so dumb...so please explain to me. I'm not being rude, or insulting, as you are...i'm not taking this to a personal level , as you are. I admit I got a bit defensive and made the whole "crap" post, and I apologize for that. So please explain to me why I deserve to be disrespected ?

My soundcard forgets its a soundcard every 20-30 days or so. It just...forgets. Windows will boot and will say "Hey, I found this new hardware, what the fuck is this? Creative Audigy Wave Emulation or something? Do you want me to install drivers? Okay...Well, I can't find no drivers, sorry chief. I'm just gonna put this big yellow box on it and let it rot there, mmmkay?" Dude seriously, I think you have a bigger problem there. I've had the samy Audigy Platinum card since their introduction and while I do experience gremlins on occasion, I've never seen anything like that happen. Two other friends have Audigy cards as well and one does in act have his surround cut out every once in a while and has to reconfigure it, but we've never had our cards disappear from Device Manager. I think that card or the slot it is in might be flaky.
And yes, Starforce is ass.
