Just a FYI, this isn't a mod of HL1 or HL2; it's brand new game with it's own engine. It's just being distributed through Steam.

And it's hilarious how Canadians have to point out the exact exchange rate for their monopoly money whenever someone makes a joke about it.

I presume I'm the Canadian here? Actually, I've never even been to Canada, I just wanted to point out that people from the US really shouldn't make jokes, especially with the USD being as it has been for the last few years. I'm British/Irish, used to pounds, so with the exception of Malta (and possibly a few others), j00z @11 my b10tchz. Or something.

Yeah, if only these Canadians had the patience to wait for another 4 more years of a US run by oil barons.

We'll be the ones with Monopoly money then.

It was the same way with HL1 too. Hundreds and hundreds of unfinished mods. I worked on Chemical Existence, one of the few total conversions that actually managed to finish. It wasn't a great game, but it was quite an accomplishment.

Wow...I remember when HL-engine mods were free. DoD, Counterstrike, and the incredible "They Hunger" trilogy. I'm sure there were more, but those are the most memorable.

Now there are about a hundred MODS/TC consisiting of little more than a partial design document and posts for "help wanted: coders, mappers, artists, etc, etc" usually denoting that the 16-year old kid with the next great Counterstrike-clone idea needs a little help....bleh

^m^

Yeah despite the pre-order saving, I'll definitely wait for a demo on this one. It looks cool, but I'm not convinced it wouldn't get old really fast. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

He only did it to point out how misinformed the post was. American being misinformed about Canada, NEVER!

Considering how expensive a hobby computer gaming is, I'm really surprised by how tight some people are sometimes. Some even quibble about the $2 preorder saving.

At least this is original, at least as far as I know. I've only just actually looked into this - is there any kind of single player game, other than "smash pots" or "pick up mushrooms"? Such as AI fighters?

I know I shouldn't comment, but it always makes me laugh when someone from (I presume) the U.S.A. commenting about Canadian dollars.

$1 CA = $0.85 US
$1 US = £0.57 UK

I'm just careful not to make a big deal out of this incase someone from Malta is around

There IS a demo, and last I heard it will be available when the game itself comes out. Sucks it'll be out after the preorder discount though.

...for games, especially small-developer ones, going digital delivery, but I really need to see and play more of this game. At $15 (yeah, yeah, I know you can pre-order for less,) that is nearly the price of a budget game and half the price of a game like Serious Sam 2.

It would be nice to play something, too, else it really sounds like I am paying for one of those advanced Flash games...
Steam, itself, does a poor job of advertising it.
Shrugging,
Ray

annoying and difficult to control

I played a really early demo of this a while back, and that pretty much sums up the experience.

It's a great idea, but I really can't see it working out as a fighting game given the little bit I saw..

Who knows though -- that was a long time ago now, so maybe they've really refined the controls (movies sure are funky).

Would need a demo of the final product at any price though.
