Cyan Turnaround

Cyan Worlds Survives??? on TotalVideoGames.com has word from Cyan Worlds that on the heels of releasing most of their staff (story), the Myst developer has righted the ship. Here's their quote from Cyan boss Rand Miller: "We've had a reprieve. Managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat (that I can't give details about yet), so we rehired almost everybody. Crazy industry. It's giving me whiplash!" On a related note, the Tim Larkin Q&A on Music 4 Games talks with the audio designer about his work, including what's going on at Cyan: "As far as Cyan, we're actually back at work, going in a bit of a new direction. Should be an interesting year…That's one of the great things as well as the pitfalls of this business; You just never know what's around the next corner."

In a strange twist of events, Adrian Carmack joined the Cyan team, bringing with him at least $20 million in ID stock payoffs. He immediately purchased 41% of Cyan.
