Wow, nothing like having your team ravaged on national TV like last night. As a Giants fan I've grown to expect this... Though last week's Monday Night Football dealie was an exception, the team has never been Kenny Stabler clutch on the national stage. The term that comes to mind in describing the secondary at this point is "exposed."

skip the first two? blasphemer! besdies, i never actually finished Riven... i need the whole story man! i mean, c'mon - i'm even re-reading the books for cryin-out-loud! plus, you can complete Riven in 4 hours with a guide (or so i have heard) so that is no big deal.
blaspheme! i love that word!
btw, who is telling me to skip a game or two, and then going on to insist that they *must* finish a game they hate?? hmmmm....?

off to install Myst III and IV, so that tomorrow will go more smoothly!
oh thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good for renting via the Blockbuster Netflix thingie, but I am not in love with them (would never purchase them.)

But still, a good watch. Some parts are flat, some are stupid, some are too long, but it is always bemusing to a certain extent and some are just downright scary/funny.

I do think fashion, at least the extreme fashion world, is extremely idiotic and most of those segments, if not always funny, reall open your eyes to things. Nothing like watching Jonathon expressing his joy that somebody else, amazingly, spends time thinking about how "...all the good people have long hair" or the one designer that takes any word and manipulates it to fit his line, creating many an oxymoron.

A lot of them are just awkward segments, but some are truly hilarious. I love seeing certain people squirm, some segments just made you laugh at how absurd they are (Ali G having a fight with scientists about he aint no homo-sapien ;),) etc. In all cases, it is really sad just how pretentious fashion has become, the way we treat foreigners, and just how little some think of the youth of today.
Lame: Two weeks and still unable to ship Ong-Bak.
Needing a break for season two; getting Curb Your Enthusiasm next,

Pffft, you have played the first two so you could start M3 as soon as you have it. Heck, even if playing from the start, you still may want to skip Riven.
What secret text???
Nooooooooo, I mut play NWN from the start! I hate the original campaign so much that I will beat it, even if only to show it who the boss is! As I recall my little part was closely reaching "god" status in the game, barring those $%@$%@%#$ annoying death spells.
No thanks needed - I am just posting on a gaming site.
Off to play..........Swat 4 :),

actually, i don't have to cancel my other M3 purchases, they're both "extras". one comes with the Myst 10th Anniversary edition (the Myst, Riven, Myst III DVD set), and one comes with Myst IV.

i am starting to go nutso here. i have now received Myst IV and the Riven Strat Guide, but STILL WAITING on Myst and Riven. i want to replay them before i begin my Autumn 2005 Myst-A-Thon. with any luck they will arrive tomorrow in conjunction with my speakers and audigy card!
and don't think i'm not getting your 53cr37 t3xt!

just go play the damn NWN campaigns already! the original game is okay, and addicitive if you search each barrel and crate for mad l00t! the first expension dispenses with the billions of searchable crates and barrels and adds in a bit more story. the second expansion is excellent. unfortunately, about a year or two ago i got 95% through it (2nd exp.) and then for some reason got sidetracked and never finished. now i'd have to replay it all just to remember what was going on.
going slowly mad waiting for Myst and Riven to arriven alreadyn!

thanks again for everything Ray - you are the an excellent human being!

Yeah, it is a good deal overall. If you can manage to cancel your "other" M3 purchase, GoGamer would be the way to, er, go.

Nah, no M5 CE for me, at least not right now. To be honest, money is tight at the moment and I just blew $300 yesterday moving stuff from storage. Needless to say, my purchases are more selective at the moment.

Excluding all that, as I was telling Mr. Nanotube, I have geen getting rid of a lot of stuff and/or watching what new stuff I get. The soundtrack would be cool, but I can always pick that up down the road. I really want to play the game above anything else...
/wave Matthew /hush

Righ now, I am playing through Swat 4 (lost all my saves, starting over) and I found a play style that works fairly well with the on-again, off-again AI so I am enjoying the game a lot more. After that, I actually need to finish up the last world of M4 (got sidetracked with other stuff.) By that time, Serious Sam 2 should be just around the corner.

One day I really should stop my complaining of dread for NWN and just finish it. Or just get out of the main game and try the two expansion packs. After all, the PR embargo on NWN2 is about to expire...
Though, I do not even recall where I am in the NWN story.
Refusing to even play the M5 demo; wanting to play it "fresh,"

ray to the rescue!

cool... i have it in my gogamer cart right now, just wanna think about it for a bit before i click on "buy". $28 and i'd be getting the ST, the Strat Guide, and <sarcasm> (giggles with excitement) </sarcasm> a pewter figurine! heck, i could then place my extra game CDs up for sale on half.com...

aren't you going to get the Myst V CE? it's $49.99 at best buy if you have a reward zone card. the lithograph it comes with is actually pretty cool (i may actually frame and display it), and it includes the soundtrack and a lame "making of" DVD (which is all of 20 minutes long), and a mini (4-1/4" x 6") Prima strat guide (with all puzzle solutions).

Well, I was talkig about overall cost relative to paying $50 for just the CD.

GoGamer does have the CE for $25, though. It kind of sucks for you, you have two M3 games coming your way, but that is half the asking price of the CD, gives you the game, and the CE stuff...

http://www.gogamer.com/cgi-bin/GoGamer.storefront/SESSIONID/Product/View/001MYS3C
Crazy - some places want $100 for the CE.
Missing the day of big 'ol CE editions :(,

doh! you're right, the Myst IV ST is fairly priced, it's the M3 and Uru ST that are expensive and hard to get. but hey! where can i get the M3 CE cheaper? so far i have only see it for $7 (if no one bids on it), but that is with $20 shipping from England. still, cheaper than $50 i guess... did you see it for a decent price anywhere??

GoGamer either ran out of stock or was asked to hold back on the imports. I am still not sure why so many games from that week went from Tuesday to Friday, but GoGamer had Fahrenheit listed as being in stock and ready to ship for a number of days. Only on the night of the day that I ordered it, did Fahrenheit mysteriously shows up as a pre-order (?!?) that would not ship until 09-27.

Now that IP is actually out, you may just want to cancel the Fahrenheit "pre-order, save yourself a few bucks, and play that instead...

Mmm...Fahrenheit.

No idea about the M3 sountrack, I got it via the collector's edition, but the M4 soundtrack does not seem too bad:

http://store.ubi.com/item.jsp?item=99153

Wowza, some people want $50 for the M3 soundtrack? I did a quick search and you can buy the CE edition for much cheaper than that...
Still no M5 unless it goes on sale; SS2 and F.E.A.R come first...
Edit: Uru really is its own beast, but I would play it between M3 and M4.

Having warmed up to SS2; betting the main game is still quite fun,
Ray

ray,

of *course* i'm going to play them all in order! sheesh... like i'm not anal about that sort of thing! that's why i went back and bought them all and have had Myst V sitting unplayed on my PC since last week! i was thinking of playing Uru either after IV or V. does it make a difference? as far as story goes, i mean...

i have heard your rants about Fahrenheit, and if money wasn't an issue at the moment i'd be buying it in a second. an "interactive movie game" is what i have been hoping for since i bought my first pentium machine back in 1996. this game will find its way to my HDD eventually.

i hear what you're saying about SS2. my complaint was that it seemed waaaay too short and was mostly eye-candy. where are the sprawling levels? the secret areas? what about a sense of exploration? they all felt missing. i'll probably pick up the full game anyway, just not as soon as i had originally planned.

no biggie about the Myst III slip... it comes bundled with the "Complete Myst" set i bought anyway. i may end up with 2 copies of Exile because of it, but not at any additional cost to me.

SO! i'm not the only one who can relax to the soundtracks! i use them as ambient sound quite a bit. i also like to watch them in conjunction with G-Force Gold. I still need to get the STs for III and IV. both are rare, expensive, and tough to find in the US (even online). that's what i get for leaving the Myst universe for so long...

Get rid of clipping rules and people will get hurt like crazy. Seriously.

I've heard this particular penalty called at least 700 times so far in two years, and I've yet to see a guy not get up, but I agree that it's dangerous to shove a guy in the back. However, the penalty doesn't appear to be any kind of deterrent, so then they just need to make it a 25 yard penalty or something. Right now all it's doing is annoying the fuck out of everybody with it being called on every single punt / kickoff.

Spearing is illegal as well. It just doesn't seem to get called as often. Quite often players will get fined for that on Monday.

Exactly. So what the fuck are the refs looking at? Last night I saw some VERY blatant spearings ON THE BALLCARRIER. If the ref doesn't see that, where is he looking? Between the chearleaders' tits?

The Eagles are reporting that Akers was kicking fine on Friday and in the pre-game warmups he kicked a 60yd field goal that was good with no twitch to the hamstring. Maybe that had something to do with their reliance on him?

Possibly, but then again, so what? I understand they let him kickoff, but he already hurts himself on the first kickoff. Then he probably toughs it out and does the 2nd kickoff too. Then he goes down screaming in pain on the 2nd kickoff, and you KNOW he's severely hurt his hamstring. I mean, he was CRYING when McNabb helped him off the field. It's not often that an NFL player will actually CRY, so you know he's in pain.

So where is your replacement kicker?? What, did they save themselves a plane ticket by leaving the guy home or something? Oh wait, they played AT HOME.
I think it's disgusting they didn't have anyone. That's just pisspoor personnel management right there.

Creston

Football has way too many fucking rules anyways. Get rid of those damn Holding and "Illegal Block in the Back" penalties, and I think you'd see 50 fewer flags per game. Right now it seems there can't be a punt or a kickoff without the "illegal block in the back" penalties.

Get rid of clipping rules and people will get hurt like crazy. Seriously.

It's fine to charge helmet first into a guy (saw several fine examples of those last night on MNF's pregame show) and nail him so hard he's on the ground for 15 minutes trying to recover, but oh no, you can't push someone in the back! He might stumble!

Spearing is illegal as well. It just doesn't seem to get called as often. Quite often players will get fined for that on Monday.

And if the cap is at 85 million going to 100 million, then there's REALLY no excuse to have no kicker besides the guy who just TORE his hamstring...

The Eagles are reporting that Akers was kicking fine on Friday and in the pre-game warmups he kicked a 60yd field goal that was good with no twitch to the hamstring. Maybe that had something to do with their reliance on him?

No dwarfing of Best Buy here, alas.

There has been a real lull in PC games; I have been beating all my older games and then giving them away. Many friends and associates have many more games than they ever previously would, but I only actually have eleven games right now:

http://users.ign.com/collection/RayMarden
Playing through Swat 4 again and then it will go goodbye, too.
Same with DVDs. I have some science fiction crap, but my collection is easly one-third the size of what it was a year ago:

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllll:

  • You will be happy with the speakers. For the price, you will be really happy with the speakers. If they really suck or you have some crazy buzzing or something, definitely return them.

  • Yay @ Myst games. If you can, play them in order. I actually envy you, your coming from Riven. M3 opens up a bit with pseudo-3D view, has a nice world, and tends to make sense (though good luck with the end puzzle.) Uru should floor you with the world it created; too bad the company bet everything on the online component and do not sweat over the expansion crap. M4 did, sadly, take a step back by not being 3D, but the story, actually caring about people, makes up for that. I do actually want to get Myst V, but it will have to get in line behind a few other games.

  • I do not know if you will really like it, it really is not an adventure game in the stereotypical sense, but Fahrenheit is really good.

  • I really, truly did not enjoy SS2 until I went back and started fooling around with it on the hard and serious difficulty settings; only then did it have the pacing and action I associated with this series.

  • Damn you, Tron. Damn you for making me admit this! I have the Myst, Riven, and Myst III: Exile soundtracks...

  • And I actually have to apologize for being an asshat. I was curious why I did not have the M4 soundtrack, I could have sworn I had the CE edition, when I just (now) checked and realized the extra disc (DVD) included with the "Limited Edition" version is......Myst III: Exile. Woops! Sorry about not recalling that when I was describing all the games. :(

  • Still, damn you over the soundtracks! ;P

  • Needing to get the two latest soundtracks,
Ray You know, hypothetically, if I listened to that stuff!
