Total Overdose Demo

A demo for Total Overdose is now available, offering the chance to go south of the border and check out Deadline Game's upcoming action game. The demo includes an intro movie and a mission titled "Smash the Stash." The demo is listed on the Eidos Interactive Website, though they do not actually link the file, but the 309 MB download is available on 3D Gamers, Computer Games (Romania), FileFront, Gamer's Hell, Gameguru Mania, and Worthplaying.

Amusing game. It does feel like GTA + MP + Postal (the 3D version) + with silly stuff. It ain't bad.

I find it amusing that you can kill chickens into cooked birds.

Really? I of all the games I've played over the years, I'm sure the GTA games rank somewhere near the bottom the "taking itself to seriously", probably somewhere between Sam and Max and Psychonauts.

I'm sure there are a lot of politicians who would disagree with that statement.

Due to lack of disk space on C: drive, it wanted to use it as temporary location AND it leaves its 300 MB MSI file in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Wise Installation Wizard\!!!

If you are like me with tight disk space on C:, copy that MSI to another location and install away.

This is out in the UK and should be arriving today, I picked up the PC version for £17.99 ($32.50) inc p&p - It'll be interesting to see how much longevity this has.

Same here Moatman, I clicked the banner ad today on IGN after never ever hearing about this game. Demo was fun I could see this being a good little diversion game, when I want to destroy stuff for 15 minutes. I love the whole "Despardo" feel of it, I'll probably buy this one, for the PS2.

I thought the demo was a lot of fun, I think the "doesn't take itself as seriously" comment was directed more towards the special moves and rewind feature, this is almost like gta meets looney toons with some of the things you can do, but I think that makes it unique and fun.

I don't know how many times in gta or max payne I'd make one little mistake and I'd want to take it back, the rewind does that, even if you get killed. The special "loco" moves are very useful in their own ways, and the shoot dodging is as fun, if not more, as max payne. The demo level is fairly large, you can either go right to the objective and clear that out pretty quick or just goof around and try to get a higher score(plus see more of the fun stuff around the farm)

This game has gone from being not on my radar at all to being a very likely purchase just as of today. Between first hearing about it on a banner ad on ign(yeah yeah, don't tell the advertisers that one of those actually got my attention in a good way...) to trying the demo this evening, very tough to totally catch me off-guard with a game, especially a fun gta "clone" like this.

It's sort of like Max Payne and GTA, if GTA didn't take itself so seriously. Some fun moves and combos, and it's fairly entertaining. Graphics are nothing special though; it's rather obvious that there's a PS2 version as well.

Was fun, beat it pretty fast. It's like a super fast paced Max Payne with bullet time. Has some neat stunts you can do with the bullet time that add to the mix and it plays off of Desperado a lot so that's a plus. Loved the dual toting guitar case machine guns =)

And have to use IE. Not Mozilla.

So, is the demo any good?

Actually, the Eidos website does have the demo. Just make sure you allow popups with Service Pack 2 for the page after you click the demo link. A popup shows that allows you to enter your age, then click the download link. Adios!
