Serious Sam II Demo Tomorrow

2K Games announces that the Serious Sam II Demo is due for release tomorrow morning:

Great news! The Serious Sam II PC playable demo will be released…TOMORROW! Although I guess the suspense was kinda ruined by the subject line). w00p.

The demo is ~250 MB, and contains the complete Seriousopolis Uptown level from the game, which can be played solo, or over LAN or online by up to four people.

It also contains all the weapons from the game (although you may have to cheat to see all of them), one of the game’s vehicles and a nice variety of the insane enemies that Sam is well known for.

The demo will be made available to the public at 10:00 AM EDT, and not a minute sooner.

I had a lot of fun with SOME levels of Q2 SP.
I was very bored in some.

But I still consider it the best DM after HL. And don't get me started on the greatness of AQ2, greatness that team never seemed to match again.

Demo = Goodness. Good job Croteam, here's hoping there's a bit more variety in the game this time.

There is more to add but the point is that many people enjoy joining a LAN or IP game with their friends to play within a story line and achieve a goal together.

I heartily agree. I recommend Doom3 Opencoop mod as well. They did a really nice job with this.

Doom 2 had coop.
Quake 2 had coop.
Duke Nukem 3D had coop.
Serious Sam '1' had coop.
Serious Sam 2 will have coop.
UT had Assault which was coop (and dam fun).
Diablo 1/2 had coop.

There is more to add but the point is that many people enjoy joining a LAN or IP game with their friends to play within a story line and achieve a goal together.

The list above have brought me some of the best gaming moments in my life, but those kind of games (at least FPS) these days are few and far between so when they come out people get excited. I still can't believe 'id' would say that PC gamers don't want coop, the track record and fan reaction to coop games speak for themselves.

I look forward to this game so my friends and I can once again slaughter some MoFo's together :).

Yea Quake was great. I dont suppose there are some updated models and textures for Quake are there? \

While not new textures or models, the Tenebrae project adds per pixel lighting to the quake engine. It's quite impressive looking (considering it's Quake 1)

The problem with Doom 3, is the game was made to fit around the technology, not the other way around. Not to mention the never ending popup monsters and monster closets.

Serious Sam 2 on the other hand is giving out the same style of gameplay from the first set of games with better graphics. Which is fine by me. Join a server of like 6 people and just blow the crap out of anything that moved. It's not rocket science it's just brainless carnage, and it's not trying to be anything more then that.

Ditto on the Quake 2 single play, I loved it! I even have the Ground Zero and The Reckoning expansion packs. I just recently played through them again using the Quake 2 Evolved mod, what a blast!

And w00t for the Serious Sam 2 demo!! Another orgy of gibs, guns and humor!!

you're kidding, right? were you a PC gamer back in 1997? my crappy little website used to average over 200 hits per day and that was just for user made add-on single player Q2 maps.

I'm going to stick up for Tron here. I also liked Q2's SP. Oh sure, Q1 was better in that regard, but Q2 was no slouch. Particularly because of the co-op mode that was added later in a patch. Me and a good friend of mine played through that game about a dozen times. I very rarely played DM with it, that's what Half-life (Released the next year) was for.

Is it just me, or does this "2k games press release" read an awful lot like something Mr. Loonyboi would write? I know Jason works for 2k, but there's just something in the writing that makes me think it's him.

I just really, really liked the setting of Quake, this weird, crazy fantasy setting

Me too..the first Quake that is.. atmosphere was like the Dark Ages meets The Running Man in another dimension, with aliens.%)

I thought the story for Doom 3 was OK, just implemented wrong via those dumb cutscenes..they were definately on to something with the PDAs and finding more about the plot through that..Just wish you experienced the story more through the 1st person perspective of your character. Still have the Doom 3 Alpha on my old system with the Geforce 3 and the proper drivers for it..the atmosphere (seeing the reflection of zombie marine charging your back when looking through a window)the sound, graphics, just everything seemed right. Although incomplete some of the ideas shown were never implemented into the final and it shows...:( Wish they would've stayed with that original vision of the game..which was far superior IMO. Imps and their AI were faster and seemed smarter...not too mention every mob sounded really fucking scary but now they sound weak and lethargically passive-aggressive, which probably was because of Trent Reznor leaving the project. O well...

As for Serious Sam II tomorrow..wonder if Croteam will
include some politically correct female version...Serious Samantha anyone?

Holy Cow!

And I get the last components of my new computer today, with 7800GT (AMD64 3000+, 1GB RAM) and all, after having played with my GeForce 4200 64MB (AMD 2000+, 512MB RAM) for years...

Time to get serious, folks.
