Had a surprising experience this morning with the pups on the doggie trail. As the festivities ended we headed down to the closed for the season swimming beach on the river where the trail runs. The other dog with us at this point was a Golden Retriever, so his owner started throwing a stick into the water for him to fetch. After a few go-rounds of this, who should decide she was willing to swim into the deeper waters but Hudson the wonder dog! Now I've been waiting for young Gunnar to do this, figuring one of these days he'd get in touch with the puddle part of poodle, but at the age of five, I had more-or-less given up on the idea that Huddy would take up swimming. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks, and it sure was neat watching her doggie paddle around.
