Well, maybe not despise, but the way you put it down when you said this:

a series for the masses... like deer hunter

oh how i shall weep for its demise

Doesn't sound like you care for it much at all even for what it has done.

theres an attack... good job! are you a natural hypocrite or just stupid?

An attack? I was asking a question, not accusing you. Check the punctuation next time. Saying that I am either a hypocite or stupid is more of an attack. Doesn't bother me though because we don't know each other.. so you can assume whatever you want.

What I find amusing is how much you despise the series.

Hmm, I dont see where I said I despise the series.

Why do you hate it so much? Is it too confusing for you? Too much thinking involved?

Yeah, there was a topic about that on Blues not long ago. At least they are done with the series.

the thing thats most amusing is how you fuckers cant let other people have their opinions that they dont like this game without attacking them for it - good job!

Hmm, I didn't see anyone attacking you. What's with the attitude?

What I find amusing is how much you despise the series. Why do you hate it so much? Is it too confusing for you? Too much thinking involved? I don't get it.. now I'm the confused one. I can understand it if you don't like this type of game, but it seems to be more than just dislike.

Because it you know, had some non cookie-cutter design that doesn't just duplicate the last thing that made money

are you trying to tell me Myst was the first point-and-click adventure game??

sure thing, cochese

the thing thats most amusing is how you fuckers cant let other people have their opinions that they dont like this game without attacking them for it - good job!

In other news Ryan Warzecha (aka The Gray Dragon) on his blog (http://www.thegreydragon.com/2005/09/time-of-your-life-almost-all-of-cyan.html) writes about how Cyan Worlds is almost nearly out of business. Cyan Worlds has laid off all but a few employees, retaining only co-founder Rand Miller, company President Tony Fryman, and a small skeleton crew. When word spread about Cyan's debt Ryan updated his blog with another message saying, "Just so everyone knows... Cyan is not in debt with Ubisoft and saying such a thing doesn’t help out any situation." Ex-employee Bill Slease indicated that "Cyan Worlds failed to gain the financial backing for their future projects. As a result Cyan's decision was purely financial." But he adds that, "Rand wants to hire back anyone who hasn't moved on if Cyan can secure funding for another project."* For now Cyan Worlds looks like it's on the brink of becoming another defunct studio. So the point of this post is to encourage you guys to go out and BUY the game if you are interested. Not from the stand-point of warez being "bad" but it will help save one of the last remaining staples of PC gaming.

Myst is what got me into computer games. Aside from the text games like Adventure and Starship I played in college, I read a local newspaper columnist, Jon Carroll, writing about how incredible Myst was. It was the first PC game I ever bought and the rest is history.

Ahhh, it is just the joy of the usual Myst-envy.

It is an acquired taste, but it is nice to see a game based around exploration and puzzles rather than KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL. How many people hate it that have never even played the first game, much less the subsequent ones?

Wah waahh waaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh
ROAR! GROUP MENTALITY! HULK SMASH!
Eager to play it; sad to see the end of the series :),

Personally I have enjoyed every Myst-related title, given I seem to have a little more love for Cyan's own developed games.

I can never understand how so many gamers seem to _hate_ (not just "not care for") the series. You would think that Myst molested them as a child or something. There's just so MUCH negativity. In every post on any gaming news site with the word "Myst" in it, there's a 1:1 ratio of positive and negative, and the negative are pure flames most of the time(in my experience).

In every *other* game post, its mostly positive comments... bizarre.

I purchased the first Myst without really having a good sense of what the game was like. I was a little disappointed at first with the Powerpoint-esque game engine, but I actually played through the entire game and it was fun. The world was mysterious, and its style reminded me a little of the Zork games (or atleast, how I pictured it in my head).

I could never get into any of the sequels though... not that they were bad games, but I just didn't have the patience for them anymore. The puzzles in the Myst games were extremely vague...

The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour were similar games that I really enjoyed...

But hey, BF2 Special Forces Xtreme Underground is coming. I bet you all can't wait for that, what with the night-time and... stuff.

There's the problem. Myst certainly isn't for everyone (not really my cup of tea either) but I love how everyone says it isn't a real game because it isn't Halo or BF2. Because it you know, had some non cookie-cutter design that doesn't just duplicate the last thing that made money. Oh the humanity!

I am so excited about the end of this series! Now I don't have to be subjected to another word about this pile of dung dubiously referred to as a 'game'.

Good riddance and not soon enough!

What a strange amount of contempt for the Myst series. I only got into it with realMyst, which I found to be a fantastic puzzle-adventure game, and I'm glad they went for the same free-roaming approach this time as it adds so much more to the immersion. It's a great piece of storytelling, too.

Stephen Spielberg's gonna do the MYST movie, isn't he?

He needs to install Powerpoint first.
