The website for
Play Ten
Interactive is now online, home to this publisher located in Russia (thanks
Frans). The site includes
a product
section unveiling The Wall, an upcoming science fiction shooter in the works
at World Forge (that apparently will not feature Pink Floyd). The site also
includes
an
East Front product section that includes a few new screenshots from Burut's
upcoming World War II action game, and there are a couple more screenshots on
3D Gamers. The site
also includes
a new
Precursors Product Section that includes the E3 screenshots from the game.
Also, a
new
Coffee Break Product Section is online, which includes
a French
gameplay trailer from the game. Back to where this all started, here's a bit
about the newly announced The Wall:
Nowadays. European town. Terrible
nightmares come to young doctor. He sees someone cruelly kill scientists,
padres, journalists…And once our hero understands – his horrors are real and
police began to hunt on him because that someone from his dreams is …himself.
Soon, strange, dreadful things happen in the town. A lot more serious than young
doctor. It seems the place of living all peaceful natives becomes a fight area
between two alien civilizations. The Exodus of this conflict will answer on –
will last World War be or not…

WTF is that supposed to mean? I probably do better at my gaming gig than most programmers out there, granted I work in the US. It's a real job you know. I don't play games all day.
First, the US is going to be a bad comparison point, since finding someone who speaks any given language here isn't as hard as it is in Asia.
Second, game programmers might be paid salaries approximately equal to the industry standard, but I think it's highly doubtful that the same can be said of multilinguists. Even in the US, technical translation work can pay fairly well for common languages such as French, German or Italian (probably not Spanish, though), and it's worse in Asia. I have relatives making a decent living teaching English in Taiwan with little formal educational training. If the situation in Russia is analagous (if it's not actually worse), then someone able to construct a formal press release could earn a comfortable living as an interpreter or find a multinational to work for.
