Soon you wont be able to get dedicated servers or server hosting modes in game clients, they want you to RENT a server.
Personally I'd not find it much loss if I had to do without 20 man listen servers running on home "2mb DSL must be great" systems. On the other hand, free dedicated server releases dont seem to encourage this server pollution and are excellent for variety of choice. The thought of only being able to rent servers via the publisher isnt pleasant.
(I'm not sure this is what you meant, but IMO currently it is beginning to showing indications of being a valid concern)

Hello, the 80s called, they want their turboloaders and decoder wheels back  Ahh I do miss those turboloaders (flashy lines :D) from C64 tapes

I give online multiplayer games another two years before they come with a decoder wheel.

This game definitely screamed for co-op instead of DM.

It forces you to enter your Username, password and CD key everytime you go multiplayer. WTF?
Who in their right mind wants to do this EVERY time they play the game? They really think people will accept this?
Anybody know how to remove this patch and revert back to 1.32?
I await patch 1.34 to fix this so called anti cheating change (as they put it). If not, this games dead in my book, time to uninstall and move on to another game.
These guys dont even do a rollup patch you have to do patch a then b then c etc, why not release one retail base -> 1.3x patch or whatever in a single download.
DO NOT INSTALL THIS PATCH if you like playing multiplayer.

Not sure you want to patch the game with 1.33 just yet. I did this morning and could not find ANY server that would let me play online. Practicaly ended my online option at this point.

v1.33 Release notes :
* This patch supports 32 bit only.
* This patch will update versions 1.31 and 1.32 to Far Cry 1.33.
* Far Cry patch 1.33 contains all the fixes found in 1.32.
* Fixed issue with extended characters in players names causing server crashes.
