Warhawk, we now dub thee the John Carmack of Concrete. Bravo (Ie, I didn't understand a word you were saying). Let me break it down:
vapor retarder (visqueen or Stego Wrap) - a poly membrane theat inhibits the transmission of water vapor.
http://www.visqueenbuilding.co.uk/product_detail.asp?id=46&sid=145 http://www.stegoindustries.com/
Think of rolls of super-beefy plastic sheeting similar to that used when painting.
crushed rock/aggregate base: used to provide a firm base to place floor slabs on - usually compacted during construction activities. Also, due to the granular nature, helps prevent free groundwater from rising to near the concrete slab through capillary action in shallow groundwater areas (behavior often seen in clays and silts used as subgrade materials).
sand: +/- 2" layer used to aid in curing the concrete and protect the vapor barrier from punctures during concrete placement.
efflorescence: whitish salt deposits often seen on concrete slabs due to moisture transmission through the slab (brings dissolved salts through and leaves the salt upon evaporation).
http://www.askthebuilder.com/033_Efflorescence_-_Solving_The_Problem.shtml
Hope that clarifies things. I am not a concrete expert by any means, but working in the geotechnical engineering field has exposed me to a plethora of incidents where incorrect construction methods have caused problems with concrete slabs. Exciting life, huh?

Although not usually done in garage areas, a vapor retarder (visqueen, Stego Wrap, etc.) under the bed of sand and over the crushed rock/ag base isn't a bad idea, either. Usually only done in living areas, but it would help prevent efflorescence....

How about a future issue? How deep a bed of stone did you make your pour on? What are you thinking - expansive soils? efflorescence? cracking?

Might not be the worst thing to happen, as concrete gets MUCH harder and stronger if it is allowed to cure as slowly as possible (meaning that it is kept moist).. True - the chemical reactions that cause concrete to cure continue for a LONG time (although the 28-day strength is the commonly used result, about 70% of which is usually attained within the first week). Keep the concrete moist and protected from heat and wind to help prevent shrinkage cracking and increase the compressive strength.

Sounds like something they would put on the box as a testimonial.
I don't know if they would want to attribute it to a Mr. Xx - then again, you are probably a legend in your own right in the BF2 community already....
Seems to be an opportunity for an off-color joke in there somewhere as well.
eheheh played some more. Added 365 pts to my total just this eve. I do like it. I don't find myself struggling to get it where I want it to like the MS Explorer mice. Gotta love Logitech.
Very comfy. My wrist isn't sore like with the other mice I have used, and The sensitivity I think I have overcome with just a few games.

I want to thank everyone for pointing out ther err in my ways while discounting the Logitech MX518. I am very happy with it.
The sensitivity is something to get used to. But I won all 3 games of BF2 I was in, received a couple of medals for being in the top tier, and won 1 commander level. I owe it all to the MX518. Sounds like something they would put on the box as a testimonial.

Any new word from Warhawk?
Hope all is well... Are you blind, man?!?!? I've been posting all day!
Oh, you mean about my wife? Her latest blood test showed that the Coumadin (sp?) dosage she is on right now falls squarely in the range they want her to be in, so providing that it doesn't vary much from here on out, hopefully she can back off the blood tests (which she hates) a little bit. She is feeling much better. Her doctor told her that she probably cannot have any more kids (risk of blood loss during childbirth, etc.), so we may be finished at one - our 2.5 year-old son. We plan to revisit the issue later (maybe 6-12 months or so) with the doctor, depending on the need for her to stay on the medication - we had always thought we would want two children. Maybe adoption is in our future if we still feel that way later, but we would be happy with just the one we have as well - he is a blessing in our lives.

A well thought out, lucid critique of CliffyB's philosophy but here's the rub: Epic continues to be a relevant, and more importantly, profitable private company. That makes whatever specific issue he has with Mr. Blesinski's philosohpy moot. The minute Epic starts filing for chapter XI protection I'll give credit where it's due.
As a general critique of the industry I suppose he has some good points. He just chose the wrong person to use as an example (go pick on Molyneaux, wtf has he done lately?)
