Ragdoll deaths are a cooler effect. Not least because they're not silly. Well, depending on the ragdoll coode...
Gibs were always strange inclusion. Not as much in Doom, which 'gibbed' things only if you hit them with high-explosives, but subsequent shooters took to having bodies disintegrate into bloody chunks merely if you shot them a bunch with, say, a pistol.
Unless this is restricted to significant quantities of dynamite or gunpowder barrels (you just know they'll be everywhere), this will also just be silly. Even more so given the setting, I think.
I replayed "Outlaws" quite recently. Still a great game, that.

The "Kingdom Come" trailer shows the player scalping a bad guy, blood gushing and all. Now this is what we've been needing for a while! And, it had GIBS! I haven't seen any gibs since someone decided rag doll was a cooler effect. Rag doll got old after seeing it for the fifth or sixth time.

Well, the guy in the IGN interview sounds like a real American badass. Is he really drunk as well? Gets interesting near the middle of the video.

I've always hoped for a total conversion that was a Wild West one. Sort of like a CS but set in the Wild West. Six guns, Winchesters, Knife Throwing, Gatling Guns...I think there's a lot of potential there.

The one genre that still has not been taped decently
Lack of tapes during those times could account for that
That aside, Outlaws was a very enjoyable game, one of the first games I was able to play multiplayer with any success.

The one genre that still has not been taped decently. We have space and WWII galore, but still no decent Westerns. Haven't even had much space stuff in a while. It's been fantasy (most MMOGs), reality (Sims galore and most tactical shooters), and WWII (everything else).

I'd settle for a good mod on Source or some other engine.

Theme song by Front Line Assembly?
Not very "wild west" sounding though...

"Has there been any decent Western themed shooter/adventure games?"
Well, the last one I tried was Dean Man's Hand by Human Head Studios. It was alright, but kind of odd at the same time. It was more of an arcade style shooter though. |

I thought Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive was a fun Western game, although that was a Commandos-style title, not action/adventure.

Has there been any decent Western themed shooter/adventure games?
I seem to recall playing one released by Lucasarts many 'moons' ago, but I never really got into it.
I wouldn't mind being John Wayne or Gary Cooper, with my druken deputy at my side Or playing the hired gun out to save a town from desperados.
Ok, that was my one Walter Mitty moment of the day

I just hope we are not forced to the 3rd pov all the time. The view you play in should be a choice. Will definately try the demo.
