THQ and Gas Powered Games Team Up to Create New Franchise - Supreme Commander is the official announcement of Supreme Commander, the recently unveiled real-time strategy game from Gas Powered Games. The press release focuses on the publishing partnership more than anything, promising more details on the game this summer, but here's a bit:

CALABASAS HILLS, Calif., June 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- THQ Inc. (Nasdaq: THQI - News) today announced that it has entered into a worldwide publishing agreement with Gas Powered Games, founded by game design visionary, Chris Taylor. The two companies will work together on the Windows PC Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game Supreme Commander. With Supreme Commander, Taylor, an early pioneer in the RTS category, will mark his return to a genre that he helped popularize.

So GPG has released what, 3 RTS's, or is it 2 + 1 expansion... Total Annihilation was cool... The free units was kinda neat (especially way back then)... But TA Kingdoms was horrible... and was there a TA2, or just core contingency? Either way, their track record is tarnished, but let's hope this one is as fun as the original. -Alamar
