oh my goodness fan boys.

1. It is a demo
2. You would all complain if someone gave you a million dollars for free cause they didn't give you a blowjob also.
3. Doesn't work this doesn't work that. It does, otherwise they would not have made it. Maybe you have a piece of shit PC. For those saying, "I have other games that work great" - well you know what, all games EXCEPT for Doom 3 work on my pc. I really don't care.
4. Loosen up those pink panties and just let people try the demo out. Good lord. They have taken a complete game, chopped it up and sliced it to fit nicely on your pc as a Demo. Even before it was released. of course everything isn't perfect. Tehy cut thousands of lines of code and refrences just so you could have a sneek peek.
5. Why do you all think it is a POS when you have seen the videos, etc and it looks like hundreds are playing and inthe videos no one is standing up and yelling, "What a piece of shit this free game testing is! It doesn't even load on my rig!"
6. If you are just going to bitch about how bad it is, what is the point in wasting your time? Shut up at turn on your upload speed for torrent so others can try.

I am posting alink in a second with stipulations.

Aside from the games coming for the PC, the one thing I REALLY appreciate is the mods I've probably had more fun with game mods over the years than I have with most of the games themselves. That's something the consoles don't have, and won't have until they end up turning into PCs themselves.

I don't think PC gaming is really dying. Yes, consoles are the cash cow, but they don't really allow for the same creativity that PC games do. There will always be the indie developers and at least a handful of good mainstream developers working on PC games. Sometimes I don't really think it would be a bad thing if casual gaming goes to consoles. Maybe there will be fewer Deer Hunter 9 and movie of the week titles, and we'll be left with games more like Baldur's Gate, Deus Ex, and Half-Life, and all the mods that go with them. That wouldn't be so bad. Let the PC do what it does best. Give you deep, involving games that also allow you to contribute to the community and create more fun for everyone.

All your fucking bitching just makes game companies that much more confident that the PC game industry is D-E-A (fucking)D

Oh yes, bitching about games that ship incomplete/bug ridden and rely on a "release now, patch later" mentality makes it OUR fault. I love how you blame those who get pissed off for spending money on faulty products rather than blaming those who made them faulty. Unbelieveable.

All game companies are going to make console games first.

What about the best FPS yet, Half-life 2?

allow patches, have a keyboard/mouse, full internet browsing, etc.

That's why I am a PC gamer and that's why PCs aren't going anywhere.

Name a game in the next 12-18 months besides BF2 that has you by the balls?

How about Civilization IV, Half-life 2 Aftermath, Alan Wake, Dreamfall The Longest Journey, Dungeon Siege II, Quake IV, Stargate SG-1 the Alliance, Prey, KOTOR III? Should I go on?

Computers are a pain in the ass, too hard to develop for

They aren't as hard as the upcoming consoles. For them to be competitive with PCs the games have to be written to use all of the cores/SIMD units....which is much much harder than writing for a single core CPU.

I am an older gamer in my 30's with wife and kids, and as much as it saddens me to say, I agree with some of the feeling about pc gaming dying...

I walk into my local EB or Gamestop and a TINY section is for pcgames...all the rest for consoles.

I pretty much KNOW when I run a console game, it will be a smooth experience.

A 350 dollar video card, 1.5 gigs of ram, 15,000 rpm scsi, dual 20 inch lcd's, etc. I have and do continue to invest in pc gaming, but quite frankly, it's getting old. Three big titles a year (for my tastes) is really not justifying the money I spend on PC gaming to make sure I can run the titles with MOST of their options turned on. I really feel for the developers having to support so many variables of hardware/spyware/idiot pre-teen kids that whine that their Nvidia TI card will not work with a new game 4 years after their card was released.

I'm glad PC gaming is "dead" supposedly or dying. That'll just open it up for smaller dev houses to take over and start making real games again, and not beautiful but ultimately shallow experiences that's been forced down our throats the past decade. Don't get me wrong, tons of great stuff came out, but nothing that can compete with multi million dollar monstrocities from the likes of EA.

I dont get any stuttering with my system 3.7 ghz pentium 4 and 1.5 gigs of dual channel ddr ram at 436 mhz(overclocked speeds)I did have to run the drivers that came with the game for my 6800 GT. This is a game that will scalle up apparently as I can tell I would neeed to upgrade to get it to play smoother also. If the game is not running good on your system sorry but it is your system. You do need super fast state of the art pc for this game apparently.

To everyone complaining about performance and lag issues please realize this.

The demo has been out for less than half a day, no one knows what settings to tune to properly optimize the game and get it running smoothly, give it a couple days.

As for lag, of course there is going to be lag right away! There are hardly any dedicated servers up for the game and those that are up are most likely being spammed to hell. Like the performance issues give it time! In one week everything will be resolved and you play to your hearts content.

For now just load up the single player or play a game with a few friends to try it out. In a couple of days log on to some servers and see how the game really plays.

The days of PC gaming are gone. Think not? Name a game in the next 12-18 months besides BF2 that has you by the balls?

1. Prey
2. Quake 4
3. Spore
4. Enemy Territory - Quake Wars
5. Anything Bioware.

You don't speak for the community. You have no clue what you're talking about. I was also at E3, so you must've not been looking hard.

And those were off the top of my head, that I could remmeber in the 2 minutes of downloading the older ATI drivers.

I really liked how you wrote DEAD right there after you spelled it out. For a second I thought you wrote Darma & Greg but I really couldn't figure out how that show has anything to do with gaming or Battlefield 2.

Thanks again.

I declined on installing the drivers it asked to install yet the game plays fine, aside from the huge black squares on the vehicles for shadows.

Im running 71.89 Forceware and am thinking i should have installed them, ive looked around for the 77.30's with no success. anyone know where i can get them? or how i can strip them from the demo install file?

The 77.30 driver is decompressed with demo and you can find it inside the "Battlefield 2 Demo/nvidia_driver" folder.

Yeah...

1) a readme you cant see till AFTER you download it
2) I don't see how this game can REQUIRE these cards. My Ti 4600 plays DOOM III and HL2 with *NO* problems. This is complete bullshit. I have stopped my preorder.

DEAD

All game companies are going to make console games first. We all must pray that the consoles get it right this time and allow patches, have a keyboard/mouse, full internet browsing, etc.

The days of PC gaming are gone. Think not? Name a game in the next 12-18 months besides BF2 that has you by the balls?

Thats right. Guess you went to E3 right? NOTHING for the pc. Enjoy your last year or two with your computer.

Computers are a pain in the ass, too hard to develop for, piracy kills them, everyone has a different configuration and that, in the I.T. world spells disaster, loss of productivity and loss of income. Adios.

Eat shit.

Runs great so far, even the roomate who won't play anything other then Everquest, looked over and watched for a bit and said it looked really nice. Jokingly I told him it was the new combat patch for EQ

Had no problems so far and with my athlon 64 3200, 1 gig corsair ram, SB Audigy 2, and 6800GT had no problems. Except that if there was a license for flying vehicles it woulda been revoked a long time ago lol.

Ok this is interesting. I just received an email from Gamespy.

"GameSpy Founders' Club...Download Battlefield 2 Demo on 3D Gamers Now!"

Gamespy, rather than break their promise with EA and hosting the demo on fileplanet.com are using 3dgamers to hosting the files for Fileplanet subscription holders.

Priceless!

1 - Random Disconnects (not my pipe/hardware)
2 - Texture corruption (on many, many facets of the models/terrain)
3 - Sound cutting/fuzzy
4 - Lag spikes (could or could not be server/client induced, not on my side according to what I see)
5 - Beginning video failed to load
6 - Menu system dropped back to desktop when rebinding a key
7 - Video options failed to save
8 - When video options finally saved I experienced a beautiful 'rainbow' effect on the menu skin

But, Sean, I've only played it 5 minutes. You're right, Sean, there's not that many bugs. And, Sean, before you blame my system or configuration I have many, many games that run perfectly fine. I have name brand equipment that most would consider 'gamer grade' so let's not explore that path, shall we, Sean?
