Half-Life (1) Patch

Steam News has word on a new update to the original Half-Life engine that's now available through the Steam service. The new update shuts off several exploits, and as a result of the new version, Linux Half-Life servers now must have GLIBC version 2.3.2 or later installed, and a change to the HL1 Engine Master Server Query Protocol may cause problems for third-party server browsers until they have been updated.

As part of the next version of VAC, which is currently in testing, the Linux game server now must have GLIBC 2.3.2 or above installed.

I enjoyed HL:S more than HL2.

Me too. Of course, that's because I didn't and won't buy HL2.

WHAT THE FUCK kind of statement is that?
I agree about not liking a double-cheeseburger, because I didn't & will never eat it. WHAT THE FUCK?

lol.

It IS pretty peculiar that they would patch the original Half Life. I mean, do they seriously have nothing better to do? Where the fuck is Team Fortress 2?

Patching = good (well, to the extent that it still sucks that a game needs patches to begin with, but I've given up on that debate... mostly), but seriously, you don't have to patch an eight year old game anymore.

I just remember the stuttering and even still I kept going through till the end. I really enjoyed HL2. I think the weakest part for me in it were those stupid things that attach to the vehicle to throw you over. They looked like those little kiddie toys that you put on the ground and they shake around the floor. Really lame concept and just a pain in-game. The game felt really immersive though. Loved the tower in the background.

I enjoyed HL:S more than HL2.

Funny but true, when HL2 was released last year I started playing for 2-3 levels got bored and the played through the complete HL1:Source game in one single session! HL1 remains an amazing even after all these years.

It's only a few days later that I continued to play through HL2 but it took me 2 weeks to complete it because somehow I never got addicted to that game... must be because of all those buggs, crashes, stuttering and extreme slow level loadings.

HL in HL2 engine has been out since the game released. I got it and played through it though it wasn't anything special. Water effects were subpar to HL2s and the physics were awkward considering it used the old models and everything. The weapons I don't know what's bad about them though they look real bad, it's like they tried a new 3D look on them or something and it turned out worse than the original.
