Trying to picture Bronco at Iron Maiden AND James Taylor shows.. Well they were several years apart. I've seen JT 3 times - incredible show. Iron Maiden? Meh.
Best show I've ever seen? Tough but if I had to choose it would probably be the Van Halen Fair Warning tour. My god, what happened to those guys...

I have to say, the last Elton gig I went to (Vegas) was great, sound wise. It had a great volume, but wasn't "loud", either.

Not necessary based upon the two shows I've been to. While there is a certain appeal to having mind blowing loud concerts, my hearing will always go to shit halfway through and the sound for the rest of the show gets all muddled together. In the case of the two NIN shows I got to go to, they were the perfect mix of being loud as hell but not so much that you lose your hearing, even without earplugs. Spoken like a young man. I've been to well over 150 shows from early Van Halen to Iron Maiden to Tool to James Taylor to just about everything in between. Unless you go to very very few shows the damage you do to your hearing is incremental and will catch up with you in the long run.
I started wearing plugs around 1995 and unfortunately the prior 12 years had already impacted upon my hearing.
Now when my work takes me around loud equipment and the ringing can get very bad for me at times now. I have no perceived loss of hearing - yet - its just the ringing from loud sounds for me.
I guess if you only go to one or two shows a year and work in a quiet environment you can get by. Why you would want to damage your hearing - and possibly lose the ability to enjoy something you love is shortsighted in my opinion.

For all you chilli fans I'm wondering if he's allowed to sell it in the US -- last I heard high concentration capsaicin was regulated (it's used in pepper spray/mace, police crowd control measures, and such). I may have heard wrong though.
Using that stuff is just plain stupid -- forget the insanely remote possibility of death, there's the guaranteed result of destroying your taste buds wherever it touches. Not a chance -- a 100% certainty.
Getting it in your eyes, nose, or other soft/sensitive tissues would also be catastrophic.
On another note, sorry to hear about your grandfather Warhawk. I hope you get to see him before he passes.

there's 2 people, a keyboardist and a drummer
by all means watch their set. listen to them butcher a black sabbath song and replace guitar solo with keyboard solo... they managed to get decent applause so i guess some people liked them but i thought they lacked quality

you may want to take your time showomg up because Dresden Dolls are fucking terrible. Thanks for the tip. What kind of music do they even play? I've never even heard of them before this show was announced.
How long was their set so I can plan accordingly...

GREAT show. He didn't have to play an extended version of With Teeth though since it's hands down the worst song on the new album. I wish he played a bit more from the Fragile. I was surprised and thankful he played Every Day is Exactly the Same though.
By the way, I did not need ear plugs and my ears are not even ringing. I was close to the back of the club but was close enough to see his face. I like club venues. Enjoy yourself tomorrow complicity but beware: you may want to take your time showomg up because Dresden Dolls are fucking terrible.

Critters that give you 0xp will ignore you, as they apparently realise that they'd get slaughtered anyways. Yes, I noticed that this was the case in pre-searing, but not post-searing. The lowliest rock elemental will attack me if he gets within range.

He had a bad stroke a few years ago and has been in a home ever since (long, drawn-out complicatred story).....
See y'all in a couple days.

Enterprise - Series Ends Forever |

Speaking of last 2 episodes, Star Trek: Enterprise series finale 2 hour special Friday, May 13, 8PM ET/PT Entitled: "Good bye, Good luck, Good riddance."
Didn't watch many episodes and won't really miss it; this last season was slightly better than previous ones but overall the producers blew a Huge opportunity to be the prequel that led up to Kirk and instead cranked out a bunch of smoochy, slurpy, interpersonal relationship crap.
I don't know who they thought were writing for, maybe themselves, maybe the Oprah/Dr. Phil lonely-housewives crowd, but it sure wasn't the demographic that watches Science Fiction.

It's too bad it's only two more episodes left, but I guess it's a good thing they keep the seasons this short, so we don't get 'The O.C' effect where it's basically either a music videos or Star Wars advertisement every minute. Go out and buy Season 1, and start watching it. It amazes me how much detail they cram into every episode; I've watched the first episode about 5 times and seen new stuff every time.
It is sad that Deadwood won't be back until next year, but at least BSG will be back in June (or is it July?).
I've never, ever, ever played any kind of MMO game and have only recently gotten into RPGs (read: KotOR and newer).....but I'm really close to buying GW. Ah, the heck with it. Impulse buy, here I come!

the show was never exactly subtle but the new humor seems to be slightly more blatant than the original, still good though. Maybe this version was what the creators had in mind all along but couldn't do before due to network censors or whatever.
American Dad - well written yet annoying, probably cuz the Dad and the right wing world he lives in and inflicts on others are too close to real life.

I put in an old hard drive and then the computer stopped booting. Figured maybe the (very old) power supply was the primary cause of the catastrophe, so I got a new supply. Still didn't boot. The power button just flickered the PC components then it shut off. I swapped in another motherboard, stripped the system to bare-min components, and still nothing
Here's a couple of things I can still think of that it might be.
1) Videocard. 2) RAM. 3) Your IDE cable (although it seems as if your system is killing itself before it ever comes to the data transfer point, so that's a farfetched guess) 4) Really unlikely, but I've seen it happen, bad case that somehow shorts out the motherboard (bad standoffs or whatever). I'm no electric whizz, so I have no idea what it did, but I've seen a case stop a computer from booting.
Ram is easily sorted if you have two sticks, just boot up with one stick. (Or pop them in your other machine and run Memtest+ on them. Video is tougher if you don't have a spare videocard. Does the mobo have an onboard video? Can you even GET to the BIOS?
Cable I wouldn't worry about yet, and case is kinda awkward to test out, unless you have a large anti static bag or mat, and can just put together the components outside of the case. (or put them in a different case altogether).
Start with memory, you should be able to do that, and see if you can scrounge up a spare videocard somewhere. Those tests really don't take very long.
Hope it helps bud.
