"Click to attack" is common in many MMO's, especially those geared towards Korean players. Lineage 2 is the game that popularized this method of combat. Since GW is so huge in Korea, you can understand why they did this.
I would argue that Diablo actually invented the click to attack method, but there were probably games far before that.
I only played in one beta and just had a hard time getting into it. Every monster I killed only dropped dye (woohoo...), and it was VERY slow paced. One monster every three minutes? Not that impressive.
I was willing to give it another go, until I learned two things
1) You can only level up to level 20. (WHAT????)
2) There is an actual Next-Gen Diablo being made. It's called Hellgate : London.
I commend the devs for giving so many free betas to players, and for making the multiplayer part free. That's just awesome.
But releasing your game near Jade Empire, and only having a level 20 levelcap makes me not care about the two biggest reasons why I would have bought this game (story and character development).
Looks like I'll pass. And I doubt anyone is going to miss me
