Far Cry was fun in the beginning though totally crashed and burned through the latter half. Fun, yes, better than HL2 single, Hellllll no. Far Cry is about as fun as you can get with hardly any scripts, simple combat of peeking and shooting with limited saving capabilties. The weapons were all more or less the same that none really felt more unique to the other other than let's say a deagle, smg, and sniper rifle. I never really felt like one weapon was cooler or different than another. While no means to bash Far Cry as it is an astounding game and the first from that company which gives great signs for the future, I just think when you get towards the half way mark of the game you begin feeling repetition hitting you and it becomes more of a, am I curious to what monsters are still waiting to be seen and possibly the ending or do I really want to go through another half of the game doing the same crap over and over.
Half Life 2 single player while very linear and straight forward, it was crafted with perfection. Every situation and enemy you face feels unique and cinematic like. I never felt bored at any moment in Hl2 single and loved each weapon and well placed puzzles using the physics. HL2 beats Far Cry out in just about every department except large jungle locations.
