Well considering that chart is composed of made up facts and marketing press releases, I wouldn't believe ANYTHING it says. There is absolutely no way World of Warcraft has less users than either EverQuest2 or even Dark Age of Camelot. Let's look at this logically. World of Warcraft has like 40+ servers, Dark Age has less than 20. So uhm, knowing this, and knowing that the servers hold about the same number of people, how exactly can Dark Age of Camelot have more users? Use this same logic with EverQuest 2 which does not have 40 servers either.

Didn't that chart show EQ2 and WOW are at roughly the same subscribers give or take a percent and all told EQ1&2 has three times as many as WOW? I was surprised to see how well DAOC and SWG are still doing. I can understand the appeal of SWG, but can anyone explain how DAoC is different? I've never played it, but it seems to generally get very positive reviews/comments. Anyone whose played it comment on why its different than EQ/AO, etc? |

Aww its so cute watching EQ2 fans get upset about the 50 dollars they wasted while sony continues to patch their game and break things!
I love you I really do! How is your economy doing by the way?

I'd much prefer going outside and doing some of the things i was doing in the game. For example chopping down trees with an axe, cutting trunks up to create firewood, generally socialising with real people and not a representation of an ideal a person has created. Proves to be much more fun, especially if the talking with a person of the opposite gender leads to something good. YOU FREAK!!

I just doubled my RAM and upgraded to an 800XT recently, and gave EQ2 another test (before my cancellation takes effect at the end of the month), and, surprise surprise, it still runs like shit.
I know people with less of a computer and it runs fine, but hey if you are too fucking stupid to change settings then wow reall is for you.

Maybe when Sony makes a game that's playable in this decade, I'll give it a try. Until then, hello WoW.

"WoW has destroyed them. Not only was Sony not prepared, they just flat out cant compete."
They should stick an alarm on you WoW fanboys so you can be heard from a mile away, that way everyone would be prepared to ignore you when you arrive.
WoW has had tremendous success and gotten some unprecendeted numbers, but EQ2 has had a successful launch and is doing pretty well. Anyone spouting off about how they "can't compete" or like GameSpot's article on how "no one cared" just isn't living in reality and needs to pull off the fanboy goggles that make you think your game is the only one that's worth bothering with.

I'd much prefer going outside and doing some of the things i was doing in the game. Proves to be much more fun, especially if the talking with a person of the opposite gender leads to something good.
I'll assume the chopping wood thing is some kind of sarcasm aimed at UO. Or people telling MMORPGers to get a life. Or something. I just hope you don't honestly see chopping wood as a way to score with girls. Or is it some kind of euphemism I'm not familiar with.
So there I was chopping wood in the forest when this chick pushes through the undergrowth just a little way away from me. So I waves me chopper at her, all friendly like, and much to my surprise she runs off screaming. Imagine that.
Proves to be much more fun, especially if the talking with a person of the opposite gender leads to something good.
Someting GOOD? What? Buried treasure? A magic hat? Pork and beans? What?
If I've said it once I've said it a hundred times: talking to women only leads to a downwards spiral of doom. And god help you if you ever start listening to them. Now, sticking your hand up their shirts gets results fast and weeds out the timewasters.

I don't like MMORPGs. They take up too much time, degrade social skills and cost way too much money to play.

ZigZang, I enjoy missions and character customization myself - it eats up a TON of time. There is SO much you can do for your character - equipment upgrades, skill upgrades, implants (and all the complex twinking that goes hand in hand with these things... you'll see ;). Frankly, I've had little time to do much else, because that is so (pleasantly) time consuming. And of course there's trading. I mean to start exploring more - the world design is simply beautiful (another way it surpasses EQ, as good as EQ was). Aside from that, teaming is always good fun, and there's the social aspects of guilds and gatherings. And aside from that, >:) if you choose a side (as opposed to neutrality) you can of course fight for/against the power.

The expansion just seems a little... unjustified. Sony had said even while EQ2 was in production that they would continue to build on EQ1 for the foreseeable future. The game is too entrenched to shut down and assume everyone will migrate to EQ2. Lets face it, I think WoW blindsided Sony with its popularity so they're (SOE)not going to give up their player base that easily.
