Games that involve them usually also involve: Zombies- Shotguns. Nazis- World War II. Advantage: Zombies Zombies Zombies!!!
I think the conclusion is obvious. Killing the undead is much better that playing another WWII game any day of the week.

I too am a huge zombie movie fan. For some reason I simply love them. Same with vampire movies. Funny thing is, I don't watch any other horror flicks because they bore me to death. Zombies and Vamps are the only exception.
My cousin was a zombie extra in Night of the Living Dead, and I shit you not. It was shot not far from where my cousin lived in Pennsylvania at the time. They spent hours on his makeup and in the end he had a 1-2 second clip of him being blown away put in the movie. Not a huge big deal, but I think it's cool as hell.

Lets look at the facts shall we?
What they are: Zombies- Shambling undead, animated by a terrible virus, supernatural powers or some completely unexplained phenomenon. Nazis- Hateful agressors bent on domination of Europe. Advantage: Zombies (for allowing writers everywhere to use the word "shambling").
Motivation: Zombies- Consume the flesh of the living, spreading their terrible influance. Nazis- Military victory and ethnic cleansing. Advantage: Zombies (Braaaaaains...)
Special abilities: Zombies- Can suvive near total dismemberment and maintain motor function. Can spread their influance through infection. Nazis- Scream humorous German phrases when they die. Advantage: Zombies (Nothing beats an enemies arms and legs and watching them squirm around on the ground, still trying to bite you)
Weaknesses: Zombies- Slow speed, limited mental capacity. Nazis- Can't ever seem to hit the broadside of a barn, especially if Indiana Jones is around. Advantage: Tie.
Games that involve them usually also involve: Zombies- Shotguns. Nazis- World War II. Advantage: Zombies Zombies Zombies!!!
I think the conclusion is obvious. Killing the undead is much better that playing another WWII game any day of the week. =D

Zombies are the best form of entertainment.
I will have to disagree. Nazis and the violent dismemberment thereof, is the best form of entertainment. Evidence: Levels in Wolfenstein with Nazis compared to levels in Wolfenstein with Zombies. Which was better? I'm sure an insightful person such as yourself sees my point.
Killing Nazis provides more entertainment. Anyone suggesting otherwise must be licking frogs for the high. |

In a game? What will they think of next?
Whoever Hip Games are, they obviously aren't what you'd call very imaginative. This is why most licensed games suck - if they didn't have an idea of their own what to do, how can they come up with good ideas for how to do it?

Holy crap. After being a total zombiephile for the last 15 years, I can only hope they do something along the lines of Doom 3.
Now, before I get flamed to death...I want the interactive, creepy, shadowy, jump out of my chair scares that Doom 3 delivered.
NOT (and let me repeat it again with caps) NOT the monsters in the closet, "Open the door, Oh wow another completely empty room, I wonder where the line definition trigger is" spawn in hell that was Doom 3.
Now THAT would be tits.

Hope the games have nothing to do with the arseholes behind the recent Dawn of the Dead remake. I'm sure all fans of the genre will join me in saying it was horseshit. Games with the nihilistic feel of the original films, though.... bring em on.
Umm, no, we won't. I love the original "Dawn.." as well as all of GR's movies. I also happen to love the new "Dawn.." Not all Dotd fans are as close-minded as you apparently are.

There were times when I was playing HL2 that I thought it'd be a great engine for a Dawn of the Dead mod. It wouldn't take much at all.
As an aside, I loved the recent remake. They took it in a different direction and that's great. Remaking the original shot for shot would've been stupid and pointless. My 2 cents.

Hmm... strange that this was announced soon after a particular 'fun mod' was harkened as deadly successful.
Brain Bread. If you haven't heard of it, check it out. Something tells me that this game will be largely similar in scope and style.
Call it a ...hunch. Nope, it's just a coincidence. George Romero has talked about his intention to make a video game many times before, this isn't anything new.
But just because he's attached his name to a project doesn't mean it will necessarily be good. If he doesn't have the gamer "awareness" in him, he's not going to get the pacing right; movie pacing doesn't work with games, it's a bit different than that.
So I hope George has been playing alot of games, otherwise he's in for a rude awakening that so many Hollywood types before him have had that haven't taken the art (or craft?) of game development seriously.

What's the chance that John Romero sues over the use of his name? In todays world, I am guessing it's pretty high.

Well, as a huge fan of Romero's 'Dead' series, I'm very pleased to hear this news. I just hope the attempted translation to interactive media does the parent films justice.
That said, Romero was supposedly already in cahoots with American McGee to make 'City Of The Living Dead'. Will this development invalidate that project then?
Furthermore, the three existing 'Dead' films are all owned by different companies - George (apparently) has the rights to the original "Night", Laurel and Universal have the rights to "Dawn", and Taurus Entertainment have the rights to "Day Of The Dead". Sounds like a legal minefield to me...
