ASE, GameSpot & Yahoo!

GameSpot and Yahoo! team up has some details on a new partnership between Yahoo! and GameSpot that will supply GameSpot content to the Yahoo! games channel. The announcement also has news about the All Seeing Eye that adds the familiar touch of a game browser to the network:

Yahoo! Games also announced the hiring of Patrick Ford and Thom Kozik, both from All-Seeing Eye. Inc. Ford will serve as director of video games products and Kozik will head business development. The deal will also integrate the eponymous game browser from All-Seeing Eye. All-Seeing Eye allows gamers to save buddy lists and to connect with each other when playing online multiplayer games.

All I can say at this point is: You give me a headache (and I suspect the feeling is mutual).

And thank you for the link.

Here is a direct download link to the latest Yahoo messenger installer:

http://download.yahoo.com/dl/ymsgrie.exe

There is no spyware installed with it although the messenger itself does have some small ads in it just like MSN and AIM do unless you patch them out or use a URL filter to block them.

By the way, you're welcome.

Read (and comprehend) what I wrote, moron. Viewpoint is not installed if you stop the installation after ymsgrie.exe is downloaded.

You would be the absolute last person on the face of the earth I'd take support advice from.

Poor, poor, FUDley...

I rest my case. All you do is bitch. Bitch and FUD.

See FUDley. See FUDley FUD. FUD FUDley! FUD!!!

See FUDleys one man war against Valve! See Valve cower in fear of FUDley! Fear FUDley, Fear!

You can uncheck all the shit you want, and it still installs Viewpoint.

I also find it quite humorous and hypocritical of you to bitch and moan about Steam, but then talk about how you want to make maps w/ the SDK.
I never said I wanted to make maps with the SDK. I said that I would simply like to checkout the SDK, and it should be available for download without Steam or the game itself like other SDK's are.

Oh, and hows your boycott of Steam working out? Has Valve caved to your demands yet?
No, but Valve also hasn't gotten my $60 either nor will it ever.

The reviews, previews etc bare no relation to the content they had 18 months ago.
Well the site has certainly not remained static for 18 months. The same is certainly true of the other gaming sites as well.

They used to be informative, critical and in-depth, now they're just glorified PR.
I read a couple of the reviews on that site today, and they were no less insightful or critical than those of other gaming sites.

You can install Yahoo messenger without any of the extra stuff. Once ymsgrie.exe is downloaded, stop the installation and run that to just install the messenger program. It contains no spyware and the small ads that are displayed in the messenger program can be blocked.

You can uncheck all the shit you want, and it still installs Viewpoint. And despite your claim Messenger "contains no spyware", Viewpoint IS spyware:

I don't use it, the stock traders I support do.

I also find it quite humorous and hypocritical of you to put up with Steam, and yet bitch about other software which is much less invasive. I guess you only like getting the shaft from Valve.

Prepare for ASE to be full of spyware and all kinds of other crap you get with current Yahoo! products as soon as all this is done and finished.

Exactly. With all the crap Yahoo messenger wants to install? Just wait until they get their paws into ASE.

It looks like Yahoo is stepping up to the plate to take Gamespy head on. As more competition is always a good thing for the consumer, I say "Yaaaaaaaahooooooooooooooooo!"

It only says they hired two ASE guys, and ASE will be integrated, not that they've been bought out or whatever

Dear Lord/God/Allah/Whoever,

Please watch over the goodness of ASE, and let it not come to pass that the history of Gamespy 3D should repeat itself.

If ASE dies I'll cry like a little girl, well, more so than usual.
