Age old jokes aside, The Sims 2 addressed many of the gameplay issues of the first. For example: Direction!
No longer are you just living. You acquire points and bonuses for accomplishing mini-goals. This helps the gameplay by leaps and bounds.
Agreed. Also makes keeping your Sims happy a hell of a lot easier...(in the first Sims, mine always wound up terminally depressed, no matter what I did.)

The bugs in the Sims 2 are extremly minor compaired to other games that have been released lately.

But the Sin 2 screens from last summer are pretty average compared with many games now, including HL2 and D3 IIRC, the Sin 2 screens were concept things thrown around in 1999 or something. So they're gonna look rather more like HL than DIII

I think the Sims is actually one of those games where it's impossible to find all the bugs, just because there are SO MANY options. I mean, the bug where if three people go to work in a helicopter... Testers are never going to find that.
Some other bugs, however, just show that the testing was shoddy.
In any case, my wife will be happy, because her favorite family couldn't go on due to the social worker bug, and they seem to have fixed that, so all in all I have to say good job (if it indeed fixes it.)

So if the way EA treated their coders worked well wouldn't these patches be unecessary?
Just a thought...

The game is still the same old same old, but it feels more manageable now. Not to mention many intricate add-ins.
They're still missing the Laundry tasks though... And I have had a Sim die because she got stuck at the supermarket behind a crowd of people.

I thought it was Sin 2 at first glance. But the Sin 2 screens from last summer are pretty average compared with many games now, including HL2 and D3.
