Oh, and the original nuclear bunker map which sipped with Half-Life was Crossfire. A custom map titled Double Cross was later released, and it borrowed the basic style and layout of Crossfire, albeit on a grander scale.

Two trolls don't make a right fellas.
Let's break it down... as was stated earlier, Half-Life 2 is a first person shooter. An FPS. An FPS is an FPS regardless of how you slice it. It's the same game Doom 3 is, the same game Halo is, the same game Wolfenstein 3D was. Only now it's more scripted.
Vampire should appeal to the... "upper class" gamers, if you will. People seeking games with... *substance*. Meaning. Depth. Something not quite as stale as the traditional FPS title. Surely this is not hard to understand?

Apparently I like multiple posts...
Halo 2 was ok. My biggest complaint is that it's a console game, yet really neglects party gaming. Sure, you have 4 player splitscreen, but the maps are too huge for 1 on 1, 2 on 1 or 2 on 2. It's mostly pointless to try. And sure, you can play online with 4 people, but it isn't too much fun to be gunned down by people you don't see because you have a quarter of a screen and they have a full one. The lack of bots is such an enormous letdown I don't know where to begin. I still think Perfect Dark was more fun.
Halo 2 does destroy Killzone, though, and I enjoy it more than GTA:SA because the control in GTA got very tiring very quickly. Overall, though, I think the multiplayer is just bad and single player can't compare to many PC games.
Live is meaningless to me. I'm not a fan of using the gamepad over the mouse and keyboard, and will usually only sacrifice it to have people on the couch next to me. If I'm playing faceless opponents I'd rather it be on the PC.

It's more anticipated if you are a semi-mature person with a brain and good taste in games
I'd assume, then, fully mature want HL2?
I mean, realistic female models vs Hooters Girls exclusively? Which is more mature?
I want to play Vampires badly, but that's just not even well though out trolling.

I can't believe what i'm hearing, CS:S is a downside?- even some of the reviews reflected this. Maybe it's because I've been playing CS since the day it came out, but I honestly think it's one of the greatest games ever made.
CS is been-there done-that. I played the pants off of it when I was a sophomore in college, playing 4+ hours a day.
I've been out of school for almost 3 years, so it's been 5 years since I really played a lot of CS. I got tired of it for a reason - stupid community, annoying Dust, and just having played it a lot.
I want something new. CS is not something new, very little has changed from the time I stopped playing to now. Although CS dominated me the way no other multiplayer has come close, I find myself more interested in HL multiplayer than CS these days. I'm done with squads and teams, I just want to run around like a madman killing everything in sight.
I imagine several people feel this way. We've been in a small squad wave for a while, I want something retro. Retro and fun (Ut2K4 missed the "fun," in my opinion.)

Never pre-order from Play.com (HL2 woes) |

After the UT2004 fiasco with Play.com I swore never to use them again for timely releases or pre-orders; have used Amazon.co.uk since who have been excellent and even delivered things like Star Wars Trilogy DVDs on morning of release even though I've opted for their free shipping.
On 2-Jun-03 I relented and pre-ordered Half-Life 2 from Play.com for a fixed price of £26.99; thought I'd give them another chance.
How did they do with that second chance?
In the time leading up to 16 November 2004 release date I've contacted Play.com who assured me that it would go out as soon as they received it from their suppliers.
Imagine my delight on Saturday 13 November when they billed my debit card and their system reported Status as "Posted on 13/11/04"; however, I was now unable to cancel the pre-order.
My delight turned to suspicion when no confirmation email turned up until Monday afternoon, this said "Posted on 15/11/04" and "may take 3-5 days"; even though they'd charged me on Saturday 13th.
Annoyance really set in when nothing arrived today 16 November, and when checking Status page it says "Posted on 15/11/2004" but an addition this afternoon is a Recorded Delivery tracking number.
If it was posted on 15th via Recorded Delivery, wouldn't it be here on 16th? Oh, and the link for tracking number goes to an erroneous page too.
But that's semantics, bottom line is that Play.com have not delivered Half-Life 2 to me on day of release despite their reassurances and billed my card days ago and I have no visibility of when I will receive it.
They've changed "posted" dates on their system, futhermore, if they did post it yesterday was that the day they received stock or did they misrepresent "as soon as we receive from suppliers"; you can not believe a word they say.
I will never, ever, pre-order a title from Play.com again, and would suggest that no-one else does either because the service is terrible.

I honetly cannot fathom how anyone could objectively play both games and say that they prefer Halo 2. I don't even think they're in the same league, and I say this as someone who was looking forward to both games equally.
Let me start by saying that I have yet to play Half Life 2 (will do when I get home tonight) - but from my perspective, they are two totally different games. There is no doubt in my mind that I will love HL2 single player over Halo 2, but I'm also completely in love with Halo 2 multiplayer on Xbox live. (yes, it's possible to both love PC & Console games). Being able to party up with my friends and seamlessly use voice chat, all while lounging on my couch is awesome. It's just a different experience. Not necessarily better...just different, but easily as entertaining.

I feel the exact opposite. I was completely underwhelwed with Halo 2, and am blown away by Half Life 2. In fact, if the rest of it is as good as what I've seen so far, I think that it might just be the best FPS ever.
I honetly cannot fathom how anyone could objectively play both games and say that they prefer Halo 2. I don't even think they're in the same league, and I say this as someone who was looking forward to both games equally.
Then again, everyone is entitled to an opinion... yours just happens to be wrong

another take for Enahs:
turn water valve, go back to the room where all the explosive barrels/manhacks were (which now has a pool of water in the middle), and follow the ladder through the floor.
SPOILER? the solution for the next room is actually pretty simple, but i couldnt see it for looking.

Christ this game rocks.
Its actually better than I expected. and I had _very_ high expectations.
The gameplay is absolutely stunning!
The greatest difference from HL1 to HL2 is that HF2 feels a bit more "fps". I think they have learned something from counterstrike:source.
Very intense.
Oh, I had no problem registrating, played the game 10 minutes past release. Just lucky?

Game secret text as follows: Still in “underground rail road” area. I just fell down the vent shaft into the room with 15+ blow able barrels and where then 20 or so “man hacks” come down. I climbed the ladder, walked across the pipe to the other room. The only thing I can do in that room is turn a valve and make water rise. I can not go anywhere from there. I go back to the other room and still I can not go anywhere….I think I broke some of the scripting? WTF do I do?
I have only been just now playing for 25 or so minutes, I tried to stay up late last night and started watching some old sci-fi movies I have on DVD and just got into it and then fell asleep…ahh well!
Side note, since I am lazy, how do I turn on FPS counter? Do not make me go look it up, someone here knows.

Is Vampire: Bloodlines coming out today? Many news sites and gamespot say that today is its release date, except that activision doesn't have a specific release date listed. I have been really looking forward to this game, a lot more than HL2. What's this Vampire game everyone is talking about? I haven't heard of it before today, and many are saying it has been even more anticipated than HL2?
