I'd rather believe my own experiences and that of people I know. Steam rocks. It has rocked for ages now. And HL2 is awesome too, now that I've played it.
All I'm doing is believing my own experience. If you're that lawyer, I'll believe my own experience over any cockroach from that bottom feeding profession. Have you ever read a EULA?
I tried once. They're all written by lawyers for the benefit of lawyers.
I hate lawyers. But right now not as much as I hate Valve and that lying sack of shit Gabe Newell.

Neither myself nor anybody I know in real life, has had a problem with the preload or the unlocking... so I have about 20 cases of 100% success with zero problems... and then online anecdotes about how crap it is...

It says on the box "* Requires Internet Connection For Single Player Experience".
So, there's someone posting in this forum who doesn't have an Internet connection? They must be brillient and probably don't need to worry about steaming pile.

Several hours later,still waiting |

Ouch |

Three hours after starting the install process, I'm still waiting. It takes forever to unlock the steam files and then times out on my steam login. It then won't let me re-login. I've been through several rounds of this now.
I hope whoever came up with this dies in a fire. I don't normally approve of piracy but if someone manages to bypass this nightmarish b.s., I say go for it.

I just bought the silver pack through Steam, cause I wanted HL: Source and DoD: Source but had no interest in getting it on DVD. I'll just burn that myself once everything is downloaded. Anyways, now Steam is taking forever. If this really is a BitTorrent implementation, why don't they at least show me who I'm connected to and how quickly I'm downloading from them?

I bought the goddamn 'GOLD' pack via steam...
I logged in at 12:01a.m. and started unlocking and was playing within 10 minutes.
F@*K YOU VALVE. YOU F@*KING F@*KERS! I wanted to hate STEAM and have nothing to complain about... other than not having a chane to get a coffee at Starbucks if I'd driven to EB to buy it, I can't think of a single problem. This blows... HARD!
Oh.. oh... oh... there is a problem, actually... the drink machines in HL; Source don't dispense any cans so you can't use them for health. I may have to sue;P

A shame you didn't mean Boris the japanese band.
They played NYC a few weekends ago, invite only, and none of the invitees were fans, only people there to be seen. That irked me.

The Opera episode of the Futurama is the highlight of that season (a season where they took risks at the expense of quality) if not the highlight of the whole show. The Opera satire is dead-on. Yes, I've been to operas. I try to be a well-rounded elitist.
I haven't heard the Switchblade CD. I think it's the same one that came out on Trust No One, but my order is held up in Sweden, apparently.
I love the old stuff. Not quite up to par with Isis (nothing is, in my opinion) or Cult of Luna, but it was always up there. I really want to hear the euro Jesu EP, though, see what Justin Broadrick has been up to.

How many CDs are in the box? Five.
FWIW, the install went smoothly for me, but it took a few (about 5 or so) tries to connect to Steam. Unlocking took 5-10 minutes I guess (I went and did one or two things around the house while it was doing that.)
Started HL2, got a blue error screen and my computer rebooted. Restarted HL2, it took a minute or two to load the menu (looking at a blurry wallpaper), and I was playing. Only played a few minutes, but liked what I saw.
So, not a flawless install process by any means, but not the big hassle others have encountered.
Why does my CD need to be in the drive? That's just dumb.
Installing 5 CDs, to me, was no big deal. Probably takes an additional 30 seconds over the DVD (which I wanted but wasn't about to pay extra for). CD 2 wasn't in there long. Possibly because I had already installed Steam?

This place needs some musical elitism from time to time.
I'm a big fan of Verdi and Beethoven. Right now my favorite song is Dvorak's Song to the Moon from the Amici album.
I know real musical elitists wouldn't have anything to do with popular opera albums so I guess I suck at musical elitism.
I can understand why much of today's music is so popular, I think after being force fed Ritalin for a couple of decades, 50 cent probably does sound good, or, at least, normal.
If I were to do an opera today, I would do a sort thing like on Futarama where the Robot Devil has to give Fry his hands and Gabe Newell would be the Robot Devil, only worse. There's no steam in Hell because there's no water in Hell.

Haha true that.
Hey Beamer, I recently bought Switchblade's new album which is on Deathwish... man I wasn't so impressed with it. It was like a boring version of Isis. But I remember when Switchblade was freaking so chaotic and brutal. Ah well.

This place needs some musical elitism from time to time.
Then someone brings up the whole "you only like it because it's underground" argument, which usually comes somewhere after the "if you don't like Slipknot you must like the Backstreet Boys" argument.
