The point is; it was obvious this would happen. But before saying that steam does really suck, you'll have to wait a few days. If people still can't get to play the game within a week, then it's rioting time. In the mean time; "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!, I was right and I told you all!".

The suck thing is, for all the whining and whatnot, if we would have had a valid steam account we could already be playing

All I can say is: Yes, forcing to activate with Steam sucks, especially when it's being crushed like this and you can't even get through. But hang in there because the game itself is totally worth it.

Well I guess I'm not too disappointed that I havn't got HL2 yet.. Steam should have less problems once the game has been out for a while, and once there aren't so many people using up the bandwidth.

Though I was looking forward to this game, I don't like being forced to 'activate' it in this manner.
And with all the problems I see here, that just seals it.
I'll be hanging on to my money this time.
Have to save up for a rig that will run ES4 anyway.

I don't know the story behind Lacey Peterson or what not..
But Valve created the game we want to play.
Then they put a wall in front of it called Steam. Then they said, don't worry you'll all be able to fit through the gate at the same time.
Now we're all wedged in the gate, and we already paid the price of admission.

The steam site could also be slow because of the million people trying to find out what the hell is going on with their $90 coaster.. assuming you even have a coaster. Maybe you have a hat. You think Valve was going to dodge what every single popular MMOG has had to deal with? Not today.

If you look at the "map of the US media" you'll be wrong about saying that about FOX and Viacom. Viacom has shares in both Vivendi Universal and Universal (movies etc).
With the Vivendi and Universal thing... that's why I said Vivendi and Universal and then went onto say News Corps and Viacom. I knew they were apart of the same company, so is Universal just extinct as a singular entity entirely then? No.

I always think it is funny that people want Valve to die for creating a game they want to play.
The Steam website is slow, I imagine some jackass is DOSing it. Of course, this is Valve's fault, not the teenage jackass in Germany that wants to stop this from working. Much like it is Lacey Peterson's parents fault Scott killed her, if they didn't want her do die they shouldn't have given birth to her.
