Out of the Blue

I made an HTML error last night that left this page in a messed up state for a good deal of time. Trouble is, the error I triggered does not show up on MSIE, but it does on Mozilla derivatives. Having your browser ignore errors on the client end is a helpful thing, but it's not so good for a webmaster... looks like I really am going to have to switch my primary browser to avoid this problem in the future.

True, but lacking the full story. The new Archbishop of the Boston arch-diocese is a Jesuit monk. One of his vows would have prevented him from living in the traditional archdiocese residence anyway, and that plus the need for cash made them sell the residence and all of its associated land (the land was the really valuable bit IIRC). In addition the Church sold a rather large number of other properties it had -- mostly warehouses -- in order to raise cash to pay the settlements.

As I said, it was several months ago, I just recall the gist of it. Regardless, the CC is still the largest landholder/lessor in the world. No one - excepting the CC itself - even knows the full value of all their assets, but I'd bet dollars to donuts they put companies like MS to shame.

Uh... and where is this, exactly? I've been to 2nd/3rd world countries. I helped pour a foundation for a church there.

Some of the stuff I've seen on travel shows, documentaries, etc. in Central and South America, Africa, etc. have shown some pretty high falutin churches considering the villagers all live in shacks.

It was but one of the many reasons that I left the Church.

Good on you.

He is the only animal that loves his neighbor as himself and cuts his throat, if his theology isnít straight. He has made a graveyard of the globe in trying his honest best to smooth his brother's path to happiness and heaven."
