Out of the Blue

Well, I certainly would not have joked about those chads yesterday if I imagined that we'd have a repeat of the last U.S. Presidential election, where the uncertainly over the outcome lingers like a hangover the morning after. Sick of the phrase "Provisional Ballots in Ohio" yet? I'm guessing soon enough we all will be. I guess in this clearly overly litigious society, it's only appropriate that our elections get decided in the courts. To my thinking, the oddest Election Day story comes from New Mexico, where they got tired of counting votes, and went home for the night. Thanks for playing guys. Oh yeah, and a note to all politicians... no matter how exuberant the moment... you really should avoid dancing when Kool & the Gang comes over the P.A. singing Celebrate (seek video of our reelected N.Y. Senator Schumer for a good example).

Probably cheaper to go the route I did - use a separate internal drive, but the externals do have some advantages as well.

Yes, In fact my new hard drive has 3X more space then my old one. And (after rebate) I could have gotten an extra 160 gig for $80 + tax. I went with the external because occasionally I have the need to transfer large amounts of data to and fro, and the X-HD is so much freakin faster than burning a DVD (plus, I do not waste media!).

Plus, we all need more cords comming out of our computers!

I speak from experience Halsy, you speak from books and (more often), from dubious Internet sites.

What experience would that be, Creston? I speak from knowledge acquired via academia and the real world. You're the one that believes in mythical deities, remember? Dubious internet sites? Why are they dubious? Simply because you don't want to acknowledge the facts they provide? Feel free to try and disprove them if you like. The book I just linked for you has all the evidence within. I'd absolutely love to see you read it and try and prove the authour wrong. I could use the laugh right about now.

THIS HAPPENS EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD, EVEN DURING SOCIALIST / LEFT governmental periods.

IT'S A FUCKING POINT OF DEGREES AND WHO'S FAR AND AWAY THE GREEDIER OF THE TWO. Jesus fucking christ, when you even have guys like Warren Buffet coming out saying they feel guilty about how they're raping the middle-class American taxpayer under Bush you can bet that there's a very huge fucking difference between who's screwing the middle-class more. Maybe you didn't notice the record deficit? Maybe you didn't notice that the Congressional Budget Office stated that Bush tax cuts OVERWHELMINGLY favour the rich and are further shifting the country's remaining wealth out of the hands of the middle and lower classes.

Has it ever occured to you that just because you read something in a book (or much worse, the Internet), it's not AUTOMATICALLY true?

This coming from the guy who believes the bible? Now there's the fucking laugh I've been looking for all day. See, the problem is Creston you need to ACTUALLY READ AND THOSE BOOKS BEFORE YOU TRY TO DISPROVE THEM. SOMETHING YOU HAVE YET TO DO. Unlike yor faith, the books I read are predicated on FACT here in what most of us like to call "reality".

I picked up an external USB hard drive this morning for backing up (on top of my normal DVD backupsÖ.I just forgot to do that for over a couple weeks!).

It will be easier to automate backing up on the X-HD, as I can just leave it plugged up and I will not have to worry about a media in it or not.

Probably cheaper to go the route I did - use a separate internal drive, but the externals do have some advantages as well.

Good luck!

Have you tried recovering the data off your now frozen HD yet?
Yeah, I tried it 30 minutes ago.
It was in a stand alone freezer for 12+ hours. God ohh mighty did it hurt touching that metal! So freakiní cold!

No luck though, the noise it is making I suspect the motor is dieing.

I am going to keep an eye out on e-bay and see if I can find the exact make and model for sale (it is no longer sold retail anymore). By the time I get that, I will have all my work redone, but if it is the motor, and I can change them out it would save me from having to rip bunches of cdís again and having to download gigs upon gigs of other data. (if that is the prob....it is worth $20-$40 to me to try and find out)

P.S....This new HD is cool.

Actually, I suspect it runs pretty hot

Have you tried recovering the data off your now frozen HD yet?

I guess you missed my post on Monday -- the brain transplant on my PC was successful. Picked up a Gigabyte nForce 250 board, put it in (which involved taking a bloody drill to the heatsink retention mechanism -- I have a Zalman cooler. Had to literally drill the damn pins out of the retention bracket to remove it), put everything else back together (the rubbing alcohol + coffee filter worked well for removing the old goop), and did a WinXP Recover boot. After much patching everything is back to normal.

Still need a temperature monitor though (tray icon type thing), and probably need to update the BIOS on the GB board. And get an RMA for the Chaintech. But it all works. I also have one unknown device in Device Manager. I'll eventually figure out what that is.

176. Goodbye Nov 3, 2004, 14:01 Sixis

My concession speech:

"My fellow Americans, I conceed that I was wrong about you. I thought a majority of you believed in the accomplishments of the progressive movement, believed in protecting human rights, believed in protected our fellows from discrimination and poverty. I thought you wanted to bequeath a better world to your children than your parents gave to you. I thought reason was triumphing over superstition, that science was improving our understanding of the world, and that these gifts of humanity to the future would blossom into a more perfect union of all peoples. But you have proven me wrong.

"I am tired of fighting religious zealots, corporate thieves, commercial con-artists, and age-old stupidities on your behalf. I am tired of seeing the nation turn its back on its own citizens and on the bright future we could have made together. My heart is not strong enough to carry on against fifty-five million people who disagree with me so strongly on what I see as an obvious four year disaster.

"I know that this makes me a poor patriot, a weak citizen, a blind, ivory tower-dwelling joke. I concede this, and I apologize for it. But I cannot change it.

"So, my friends, I am leaving you to whatever fate you choose for yourselves. I have no illusions of finding a bright land where progress and reason are valued over stubborness and faith. I may even continue to live and work among you, and hope for you to one day come to your senses. But I cannot wear a shredded heart on my sleeve, or fly my tattered hopes high in a strong breeze. A great storm is coming, and you have brought it on us all.

"If I may borrow the science fiction allegory, who is taking us toward the future of Star Trek? Are we not on the path to Blade Runner, to Neuromancer and the Sprawl? Who is our Luke Skywalker? Or, returning to the classical roots of our civilization, it seems Plato, Aristotle, and Thucydides were right, that Marius, Caesar, and Augustus saw clearly, while Sophocles, Euripedes, and Homer were wrong. Man cannot rule himself, and others shall enslave him. Tis better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven.

"I am not going to post on politics or current events anymore, nor pride myself on following the news. I simply hope I do not live to see the coming day when government of the people, by the people, and for the people perishes from the Earth.

Goodbye."

Don't forget Lando, Leia, the rebel commanders, the probe droid, R2-D2 and C3PO, the Jawas, the Rancor, Jenga Fett, etc, etc.

I'll be the Rancor. He only had a small part in one of the movies.

You don't think the transfer of wealth by the GOP to rich is any different than the Democrats? Come on, Creston. You're not that naieve, are you?

I speak from experience Halsy, you speak from books and (more often), from dubious Internet sites. Europe is predominantly socialist, which is your Favorite System. And guess what? The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.
Guess what happened in Russia? The rich got richer, the poor got poorer. I have three formerly Russian people in my church, I can get their statements for you if you want.

THIS HAPPENS EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD, EVEN DURING SOCIALIST / LEFT governmental periods.
Like I said, Norway is doing its hardest to fight it, and it's probably the best functioning socialist country in the world (I will readily admit that, I just would never want to live there since I hate obscene taxrates), and even THERE the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

This is not some large right wing conspiracy, despite what you choose to believe.
Has it ever occured to you that just because you read something in a book (or much worse, the Internet), it's not AUTOMATICALLY true?

But, you'll probably babble and spin some yarn about blablablablablablabla.

Whatever. It's all the GOP's fault. Just keep sitting there and shoot your blood pressure to 500 over 260 over everything the EEEEEVVIIIILLL conservatives do.

I'm rollin' on some bustas.

"ZigZang, maybe if and when you grow up, you'll learn that Star Wars is what we adults like to call "make believe". It's not real;"

Sure Star Wars is real. OK, not the deathstar or spaceships. Just the important stuff.

The force.

You can be one of these guys bragging about math skills. Or you can be with the force.

You guys bragging about math skills should know. The reason you do not beleive in the force? Your training in math skills changes your brain so that you cannot detect the force or use it. You are like blind deaf and dumb.

That is why the USA is focused on technology. You focus on technology personally and you cut yourself off from the force. That is how it works.

USA society is purposefully being destroyed so the country can be controlled. Making people think technology is the only thing important. Making woman think a ceasarean birth is good instead of butchery. Making mid wives illegal which forces people to spend $3000 or more to have a kid. People have children the world over right in their homes.

COnvinicing parents to drug their own children. Attention deficit disorder my hiney. Who can afford drugs? People with money. Who usually has money? The elite in society. If all the children of the elite are damaged by drugs their stupid parents force on them, who will fight the conquerors?

Did you know that the country of Israel is the biggest distributor of Ecstasy in the USA? Why? Because they want to destroy all the elite people here in the USA and install their own people. Who can afford cocaine? Only the rich elite. Once they snort cocaine, they go crazy, lose their jobs and a conqueror picks up a job.

The entire country, society of the USA is under attack. I personally think it is too late. The damage has been done. The republicans imported cocaine from South America and sold it to people in the USA back in the Reagan era. This means that those people are now mostly brain dead zombies. They make terrible parents and their kids grow up crazy.

For a perfect example of this phenomenon, watch a show called Trading Spouses on Fox. This week and next week a woman from Long Beach California, went to Tennessee and the tennessee woman went to long beach.

The Long Beach woman has 4 kids. They are terrible kids. Screaming and acting up. They live in a million dollar home. Guess what? The adults are cocaine or crank users. The womans sister comes over to visit and she is stark raving crazy from cocaine use. The father? The father starts crying to this woman from tennessee he has known for 3 days. Classic drug use symptoms. Too much emotion. Then the man says he is broke, losing money and under pressure. I will tell you where his money went. Up his nose, his wifes nose and his wife's sister's nose. Those adults put their drug craziness on the children every day. What chance do those kids have to grow up and be normal?

You multipy that times all the successful people in the USA and who is there to run the country, run the corporations?

The conquerors, that is who. The next time you watch the news, look and see who is Isreali. The next time you see who was elected, look and see who is Israeli. The next time you see a movie, look at the actors and see who is an Israeli. Same for TV, same for the bylines on the stories you read on Yahoo or Google, same for all the people quoted in the stories. Check it out for yourself. An Isreali reporter will report on a company owned by an Israeli and all the quotes in the story are from Israelis. Like they are the only people in the USA.

I don't know why I get worked up. America is history. It is already taken over and controlled. Now we just sit back and watch the destruction occur like watching an avalanche coming at us. You all better get used to working for Israeli or Chinese people. One of those two countries is going to own us after our military fails. I am not talking tomorrow. I am talking in about 10 years or so, once the oil starts running out.

You never heard of Peak Oil huh? I guess no one wants you to know what is coming.

Sorry but Batman is already Grand Moff Tarkin. But you have a choice, you could be Greedo or Boba Fett. Its up to you.

Nope. I want to be a droid....since it is from Halsy's POV, I would just be a pawn in the Emperor's view - having no ideas for myself.
