As for not voting . . . I think its unfortunate, but as Matt Stone and Trey Parker (the creators of "South Park") say, not everyone is informed and educated on the issues enough to vote. Those people shouldn't vote and in a way I agree with them.
That applies to about 80% of the voting populous. Everyone should vote regardless of their level of comprehension about and actual knowledge pertaining to the issues. Even when they're saying 125 million people may vote today that's still less than 50% of the country; that's just sad. Use it or lose it. Vote what you think is the lesser of two evils. Vote what you feel would probably be best for you. Vote independent.

Not voting as a way of protesting one's choices is bullshit as well. If you think things are that bad, then run for office yourself. One way or the other get off the fence.
