other than the balance stuff, how stable is teh game? or the previous ones. where there any game stopping bugs or was it reletively bug free?

Myst 4's major issue is the mindfuck known as Spire. A secondary issue is that they never tell you out-right what you need to do with a specific puzzle, just goes from semi-vague about what to do, to full blown details on how to solve it.
A lot of it could be fixed if they went back, and re-did the journals so it actually looks like they were written by people with scientific minds. Actually, not have journals, just ONE journal per area, per character, would've negated the need for the hint system, or at least given hints in the journals that the authors didn't suddenly jump off a cliff or got their hands bitten off.
Or, like have an option where you could disable the hint system entirly when you start a game.
everything else is cool.

What kind of balance issues would an adventure game have? Puzzles too difficult?

Word is: "The patch will address technical issues and some balance issues discovered after launch," Balance issues...??? Like what? Does the rocket launcher do too much damage or something? =p
