I feel the album is good.

Imagine is great. Passive feels like a true APC track. Counting Bodies like Sheep to the Rhythm of the Drums is actually surprisingly good. Fiddle and the Drum is good as well. Actually I like the album very much.

So the WS is almost all over but the crying.

I'm not a big MLB fan but I wanted the Sox to win. Congrats!

Heh, you're welcome. I definitely need to pick up the classic SNL with that sketch on DVD. That sketch never fails to make me laugh my ass off. Parliament has always had its share of Douchebags!

So the WS is almost all over but the crying. Damn, I love to be in Bawstun for the post-game celebration. Any wagers on how many people the cops will kill tonight? Lunar eclipse and the BoSox breaking the curse in the same night? Some shit going down somewhere.

It wouldn't surprise me if this changes. Hell, the Sox winning a pennant for the first time since 1918? Everything going on right now reminds me of Ghostbusters...

Dr. Peter Venkman : This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor : What do you mean, "biblical"?
Dr. Raymond Stantz : What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath-of-God type stuff.
Dr. Peter Venkman : Exactly.
Dr. Raymond Stantz : Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling.
Dr. Egon Spengler : Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes...
Winston Zeddemore : The dead rising from the grave.
Dr. Peter Venkman : Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

Stupid yet weird stat of the day:

Since the Redskins became the Redskins in 1933, the result of the team's final home game before the presidential election has correctly predicted the White House winner. If the Redskins win, the incumbent party wins. If they lose, the incumbent party is ousted.

If it wasn't for the mess Bush has made with Iraq and his unconditonally coming out for Israel it would have been a good thing to see Arafat gone. There's a reason why the U.S. has always tried to maintain an offical neutral status in the Palestinian issue up untill now, and Bush made a big mistake picking sides here. As it stands now, it'll just cause more strife. There's been a lot of power struggles going on within the P.L.O. within the last few years that Arafat has managed to keep in check, but a lot of the younger members are pretty fed up with any attempts at restraint precisely because of Bush and Sharon's cowboy attitudes.

Israel's saber rattling and making noises about attacking Iran to disable their nuclear production facilities only adds fuel to the already raging fire. While the Knesset approved the Gaza pullout, it's largely symbolic and won't make much of a difference. There also some major problems developing with Israel, Syria and Palestine over water rights that's doing nothing to help things.

The whole thing has always been a mess, but things are getting really bad. Things seem to be approaching a critical mass, and Arafat kicking off now could really destablize things further. That's the only reason Israel hasn't assassinated him yet. I'm afraid the situation is bound to get worse before it gets better. America and Israel need to get off the unilateral track for things to improve. And that really hinges on the outcome of the U.S. election. As the great Israeli general, Moshe Dayan said "If you want peace, you don't talk to your friends, you talk to your enemies".

Speaking of which, if you want a really interesting read about a really interesting man which gives a brilliant overview of a lot of this stuff going on over there (gives you the historical context which helps clarify what's happening now), read Moshe Dayan's autobiography.

So to summarize, Arafat being gone in the short term is a bad thing and good in the long.

Hey nin, other fans, have any of you heard eMotive yet? It's a really good album, and turned out much better than I had expected because 'protest' songs generally suck. Luckily, Maynard and crew have a clue and picked good songs to cover. A couple of the stand-out tracks are Imagine, Passive, and Fiddle And The Drum.

I took it for a quick listen and I have to say - meh.

I'm not a big fan of covers and covering a song like Imagine is tough - I've heard it a lot on Stern as he loves it - no go for me.

The one remix on the album sounds a lot like a Manson remix. You can tell Twiggy (Jeordie) is in the band. He is actually an accomplished musician and I'm happy that he is finally getting to express himself.

A small piece of Jeordie trivia - his first band was called Amboog-a-lard -

Is Arafat dying? And is this going to be good/bad for the Middle East peace process? Discuss.

1. Yes.

2. My bet is good. He's had a chance to Do The Right Thing (and try and make peace) for awhile now, and didn't - he's just sat in his little bunker.

It's actually named Flashblock now, and has been for awhile... but yeah, it's great.
What I want is a plugin with the same functionality for Java applets. The number of times I hit a page and see the gray java box and cup come up... ugh. Then you have to wait for the applet tp finish loading before you close the tab or it freaks out. That's been my experience anyway.

I've been keeping up with Six Feet Under and Dead Like me too. They're pretty good. DLM season finale is next week! I just hope that it doesn't take so long to get to the 3rd season as it did for the 2nd season.
