I buy from Steam. Great, I can play! Then my computer dies. I reinstall but there's a problem. I contact Steam Support. They say that they will have an answer for me within 24 hours. It's the wrong answer. ANother 24 hours. Wrong ANSWER AGAIN!! Another 24 hours.
What problem would happen reinstalling from Steam that wouldn't from a DVD?
That's like saying you'd have a problem reinstalling from DVD you wouldn't from CD. All you'd do with Steam is redownload it. I can't even fathom a problem here.
As for everything else you're just paranoid. I'm surprised you haven't made a flash animated website detailing how Valve blew up the pentagon with a missle financed by Steam user credit cards...
