Reminds me of what happened in my town.
My town has been short on classroom space for years. We just don't have the facilities any more for all of the students. The High School and Middle School share teh same building.
Meanwhile, we had a school building that we were leasing out to some business or whatever. The school building was pretty big, pretty modern, and very clean. It also had a nice chunk of property. It really was a nice place. It just needed new lockers put in.
Well, the "powers that be" decided they should sell said building and use the money to add additions onto the high school. They sold it for a pitance.
For the money they got from selling a large school building (that was up to code and what-not) and had a lot of property...
They were able to build 2 classrooms in the High School. 2 who friggin classrooms.
People were flipping out. I don't know what the hell the town board was thinking, but I'm guessing someone got a huge kick-back.
Now, the problem is worse then ever. We went from being the number 5 High School in the state to much much lower in the span of 4 years.
Well, at least I haven't had to deal with the place for a long long time.
