Impending DOOM

A few DOOM 3 tidbits: Deciding to be part of the problem, Long-awaited Doom 3 leaked online is the BBC announcing the availability of the warezed version of DOOM 3, showing a surprising degree of familiarity with the piracy scene (thanks Indy Hunter). There are also DOOM 3 benchmarks on both Telus.net and VR-Zone Hardware. Also, the Bjorn3d.com Forums have a bunch of DOOM 3 screenshots they are collecting for their eventual review of the game. Finally 1up has posted what may well be the final DOOM 3 preview before the game's (legitimate) availability (and the first review is in today's reviews section as well).

We just watched the USA and Britain lie thru their teeth and invade Iraq to steal oil.

If the heads of our country show us by example it is OK to go kill people to steal what they have, downloading a copy of software is smalltime potatoes.

Wow... um... chill...

I was against the war in Iraq from the beginning. I didn't buy the terrorist-link that they shoved down our throats, though at the time I believed the report about Iraq's "nucular" material in Africa or whatever.

But saying it like that is disrespectful to those serving and / or dying in Iraq. There were important reasons.

  • Saddam had to go. His regime was bad, he used nerve gas against civilians. His sons was an evil cockbite; raping killing, etc
  • I think Bush & Co. actually did believe the nuclear materials report. I blame this on stupididty, not deceipt.+]
    • Oil. Ok, oil was on their mind. But I don't consider it to be all about oil.

    • Bush 2.0 wanted to succeed where his father failed, taking Hussein out of Iraq. It would bolster his ego and ratings, making him a more likely candidate for election #2

Face it, Hussein is a crazy dictator that used nerve gas on a lot of civilians. We should have gotten rid of him the first time around.

France and some of the other countries opposed us going in because they had been dealing with Iraq (regular and underhanded), and thus had a lot to lose with us going in there. Their deals with the current regeime would end and anything underhanded they did would come out.

Personally, I think we should have never gone there. We should have let old age or senility kill Hussein, and focused on... what was that thing called again... oh yeh, TERRORISM.

But to say "we invaded them to steal oil" is a load of crap.

Still, I'm voting Kerry for 2004.
