Out of the Blue

I want to offer best wishes to one of our beloved regulars here, as today is Ray Marden's birthday. Here's hoping it's a good one Ray... Was Beyond Good & Evil your present? In honor of the occasion, I will quote a recent post from Ray:

"Let's all be pro-human or pro-Earth; screw fighting over race, sex, location, etc."

Now, personally I haven't celebrated a birthday for 15 years. But all that really means is I yell at the minions who think it's a career move to celebrate my birthday. To recap, me = unemployed and very secure, right now. I have almost a third of my money in hedge funds so I'm not exactly staid.

Or to put it another way. Have you done your part for world hnger today? Should we celebrate your birthday? Same answer. Peace out, pilgrim.

I never touched Far Cry, other than the demo.... But, UT2K4 which is the only game I ever play these days, does seem slower now with maps like Alpu3, Gael and Tangora...

Oddly, the bigger and more complex bastards like Aristocracy, Buliwyf, TensileSteel, Aridoom and Ascendancy all seem to be a good chunk faster...

Of course, nothing at all may have changed and these minor biscuits can possibly be put down to my drinking less vanilla coke now...:P

Those 9C drivers totally fucked up my rig. I just finished formatting and reinstalling everything (was getting GPF's and BSOD's like mad). I'm running the new Nvidia drivers ok, but stay away from the 9C bullshit for now.

I was between 4th and 5th grade on the day Ray was born!

Right around the time the walkman was introduced right?

Now I'm really feeling old. Jeez, Ray was only one when Dave was giving Eddie a break.

Has anyone else noticed a performance drop after installing DX9c (the one on Microsofts site) and Nvidia's 61.77 drivers?
I swear it seems FarCry is now running at half the speed, but other things are still going just as wonderful as before!

are you admitting to being an evil piglet?!?

Well son, seeing as I was enjoying the summer between my junior and senior year in highschool on the day you were born... no, I'm a little too old to be a piglet.

But that doesn't mean I'm too old to be eeeeviiiil every now and then.

And I will be playing Doom 3.

Happy Birthday Shadow and Enahs!

Oh alright, Happy Birthday to Ray also - even though you're so mean to me.

Maybe we can take a day off from the politics/religion talk in honor of him...

Since we have three birthdays today how 'bout we take three days off. Yeah right, I guess that's just crazy talk.

So I saw Supremacy today. Pretty good, but not great (I'd say the first one was better). I have to concur with others that the shaky cam in the action scenes was just way too much. I also thought the editing was atrocious. It was like some music video for 14 year olds with the attention span of a gnat. TV has destroyed the attention span of the youth of today. Quel domage. Damon was great though.

The first time I read a Ray Marden post? why, I remember it like it was only yesterday. The way he flamed some poor fool for daring to ask some dumb question about something rather insignificant - it was magnificent! Eloquence in action! His use of spelling and grammar was so perfect as to make an angel cry. His choice of expletives was superb! A real work of art, that post was.

Too bad all of his posts from that day forward have been absolutely horrid.

But we love you anyways, Ray! Happy Birthday!

Just funnin' ya man,

p.s. I'm surprised more people haven't been using that signature sign-off in tribute... tsk tsk tsk!

LMAO LMAO LMAO

Okies, not to sure about betamax..... I think I was 16/17 when they got rid of that....

Okies, now I've done the math... no wonder you play computer games, you must have been wasting valuable school time watching beta tapes when you were 9!:P

Lis'sen you young whipper-snapper, you!

When I went to school, it was frigid cold - maybe 60F.

Coming back from school during the summer, it could even be 95F.

I remember walking to school; by golly, it must have been five blocks away!

Things were all crazy, I tell you! Growing up with computers and the internet; having to deal with the previous generation that had hardly used them!

Gas has probably tripled in price during my time!

Why you, you...you yung'ins; do you even know what a VHS tape is? Do not make me bust out my betamax or record on you!

Do you even understand why all your base are belong to me?

Would you even give me a w00t?

Remember how cool GL Quake was?

Playing the first Might and Magic - a RPG at that!

You all have no idea how hard it is being twenty-five.

Wildly swinging my cane :D,
Ray
