BG3 & NWN News Soon?

HomeLAN Fed reports spotting a blurb in the latest print issue of PC Gamer magazine promising their next issue will profile several upcoming D&D games, including a pair of as-yet unannounced sequels, Baldur's Gate 3 and Neverwinter Nights 2. They also received a tight-lipped semi-confirmation of this news from publisher Atari.

Well, by "announce," I mean "Give us all the information about, give us a demo to play, and then launch tomorrow!"

With the drought of RPGs on the PC, especially of the more classic variety, I am eagerly awaiting Dragon Age.

Not, mind you, that I am claiming that I do not already anticipate any/all Bioware games.

Wondering what type of game Bioware would do if not making a RPG,
Ray

"??? = Damn you, Bioware, hurry up and announce your new PCRPG IP. "

We already did: Dragon Age.

"Furthermore, Bioware has repeatedly stated that they have no real desire anymore to work with the D&D license, that they would much rather work on their own IP, such as Dragon Age (Jade Empire doesn't count I think, since it's probably at least half owned by MS in order to be released on the BillBox.)"

Nope... Jade Empire is an IP created and owned entirely by BioWare.

Hey maybe they can deliver what they promised in the first game for once (lag free gameplay and a editor that doesnt require you to be a C programmer) and not sell us over blown user made expansions for 30 bucks!

Has anyone even said that BG3 would follow the same storyline? It might be something totally different, for all we know. Just because it's a sequel doesn't mean it'll connect directly to the first two.

Yeah I agree, there isn't much left to tell of in the Baldur's Gate storyling unless they went with Imoen's story from the end of ToB. Heh.. BG3 could be about your characteres ascent from being a minor diety to a major power, maybe kill of Cyric or something.

Nihilistic just finished on SC:Ghost and have a little background in RPGs, but I remember an interview with Innerloop stating that they're sticking to developing for consoles, so I guess they're not a huge candidate.

Of course, I'll settle for Rockstar Games doing a Shadowrun MMORPG

Now that is one awesome idea, never thought of this. Would be a dream come true...

BG3 and NWN2 sounds good on paper but the name of Atari reminds me of the ToEE debacle (which wasnt a bad game but could have been so much more without Atari)

Well if you're going to start as a god in BG3, maybe we'll get lucky and you'll somehow find yourself in Sigil.

Don't you fucking tease me like that! That would be... cool beyond words. Sigh.

I've seen this done on a number of servers.

NWN 2 = Wasn't this already known about? Either way...STORY, PLEASE!?!

BG3 = So, what, am I the god of god of gods now? In all honesty, I am "Yay!" for another BG game, but it needs to take a new story approach.

??? = Damn you, Bioware, hurry up and announce your new PCRPG IP.

Needing some good RPGs (or just any RPGs at this point,)

10. Sounds fishy Jul 23, 2004, 01:13 Creston

IF they get announced / developed, I seriously doubt Bioware is involved. They're currently working full steam ahead on Jade Empire and Dragon Age (which looks absolutely AWESOME, btw), somehow I doubt they have guys left over to do BG3 and / or NWN2.

Furthermore, Bioware has repeatedly stated that they have no real desire anymore to work with the D&D license, that they would much rather work on their own IP, such as Dragon Age (Jade Empire doesn't count I think, since it's probably at least half owned by MS in order to be released on the BillBox.)

However, since both of the licenses probably are in the hands of Infofuck, I have no doubt whatsoever that they would create sequels that suck plentifully, just to rape more cash out of the franchise.

I mean, seriously. Baldur's Gate 3?? What the fuck is left to tell in that story? Son of Bhaal becomes a God. The End. Why bother calling it Baldur's Gate 3, since there's nowhere you can go with the story, except for name recognition and thus hauling in cash.

Bah, Infogrames makes me fucking sick to my stomach. Why do the fucking shittiest publishers always wind up as the biggest ones in the industry? Are we gamers really that fucking stupid that we keep buying their shit? Apparently so.

Shadowrun MMORPG????

So I'm not the only one?

If ever such a thing was announced, I'd camp out at my local gamestop until it arrived on the shelf. One month, two, seventeen, it doesn't matter.

The coverage of D&D Online is way more exciting IMO. DDO is the only MOG out there that's got me stoked.

Hmmm....NWN fell just a tad short of my expectations. Especially the fact that you couldn't really link different servers together with persistant characters (ie. have a number of people running servers with different content on them and transfer characters persistantly between them using some ingame portal). If NWN allows that, then, after the modders are done, NWN2 will be a hit of monster proportions.

Of course, I'll settle for Rockstar Games doing a Shadowrun MMORPG

But who's gonna develop them? It's clear Bioware won't. BG3=Obisidian maybe? They recently announced on their forum they have signed their second game. How about NWN2 ? Troika? Sadly i don't think so. Flood Gate did a god job on SoU, maybe them?

*shrugs*

Just please, don't turn these franchises in the hands of some hopeless dev houses

I would like to see another expansion for NWN (1), I just finished HotU not to long ago and have to say that was a DAM fun game. Now I am level 28 and want another high end adventure for 25 +. I still think the NWN (1) engine looks just fine, just make some new tilesets and create a total EPIC level expansion. Come on Bioware...

Dragon Age is the next game from Bioware. Youo know Bioware, right? The company that made NWN.
