Morning Q&As

  • Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War
The Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Preview on Yahoo! Games Domain offers a conversation with Relic Entertainment producer Jonathan Dowdeswell about the upcoming Warhammer RTS game: "Our efforts have never been towards trying to re-create the tabletop experience in a digital form. We've always been single-mindedly focused on creating the most entertaining, visually stunning portrayal of futuristic combat ever seen in an RTS. We hope players will be satisfied and impressed by what they experience!" Thanks Frans.
  • Operation Matriarchy
The Operation Matriarchy Q&A on Experience Gaming talks with Sergey Lozovoy. lead designer on Operation Matriarchy, MADia's upcoming stealth first-person shooter, discussing, among other things, their science fiction influences, though misspelling both Heinlein and Clarke is an unfortunate touch in this attribution.
  • D-Day
The D-Day Q&A on ninja grapefruit talks with the developers of the upcoming World War II game: "We have three modes, these are: Deathmatch, Conquer and Capture the flag. The first and the last modes are well known from lots of other games, what is special is the Conquer. In this mode you objective is to conquer as much HQs as possible, and every 3 minutes you get lot of points to spend it on reinforcement. You can practically "buy" new units and support, as you would do it in an RTS." There is also a new German-language D-Day Q&A on GBase, which can be roughly translated via Babel Fish.
  • Bet on Soldier
HomeLAN Fed's Bet On Soldier Q&A talks with Roman Vincent of Kylotonn Entertainment about their upcoming shooter: "The Bet On Soldier program was created by the two federations to generate extra profits from the greed of their soldiers. A B.o.S is a fight between two soldiers during a battle. Each player must bet on their victory. Winning B.o.S fights allows players to improve their ranking and move up to the higher leagues."
  • The Sims 2
The Sims 2 Q&A Part 2 on Warcry News Network concludes this article-format conversation on Maxis' upcoming Sims sequel.

Ah, so if one disliked generals, then they're more likely to dislike this?

You didn't mention how the T&H flag business translates to a base building exercise. What about the unit equipping and so on, how does that compare to the earlier efforts like Chaos Gate or Rites of War? or did you even play those?

/me isn't looking for a tabletop translation anyways; that's what a tabletop is for.

Not really

the game stinks, plain and simple

How do i describe a bland RTS?

Their idea of take and hold a based objective is a flag in the middle of some area you have to capture like iC&C Generals when you take buildings. Of course at this point the predictable AI kicks in and rushes that point that you took with all its forces, leaving the base open on their end.

Really really lame Generals rip off with skins relating to Warhammer 40k.

Does no justice to the board game at all, so if you think that this game is some savior for the miniatures game lovers, it is not. its a cheap ass rehash of every 3D RTS you have played

I had heard & read that it was based on take&hold objectives to obtain reinforcements and so there was less of a base-orientation. Care to share some details.

Just FYi im in that beta and the game sucks a mound of ass

Beta or not, you cannot hide the fact that it is a very bland RTS on the vein of many other 3D RTS's

The game offers nothing new and is a typical excercise in base building and unit rushing

LAME

Yeah, Russian people mispelling English names. That sucks. They should know better.

By the way, you mispelled the lead designer's name. It's actually Сергей -- (paste that into your character map to check out the Cyrillic).

I have an idea. Let's all be a little tolerant to our foreign friends who make the effort at writing in English.
