Blizzard announces when sign-ups will begin for the closed European beta for World of Warcraft:

IRVINE, California - June 28, 2004 - Blizzard Entertainment today announced July 5th as the date players can start signing up for the European closed beta of its eagerly awaited MMORPG, World of Warcraft(tm). Potential testers will be able to register online through the official European Blizzard Web sites for the English-, French-, and German-speaking markets: www.blizzard.co.uk /www.blizzard.fr /www.blizzard.de. The final selection of testers will be chosen randomly to ensure a broad base of playing skills, locations, and system requirements to address compatibility and game-play issues. All submissions will receive equal consideration at any time throughout the sign-up period, which will run for approximately three weeks.

it definately makes it easier to get up to a competent level for more casual players... and the quests are kinda fun, definately better than lineage's "kill 200000 spiders" Bullshit, casual players will still be lvl retarded forever and powergamers will still reach the max level in a month. It just means powergamers will have to do more work in the long run, which they already do anyway. So what is the point of the rest state shit if it doesn't get rid of power gamers and casual players wont really level faster since 200% rest state is getting the same amount of experience as before they added the system? Good question

It's clearly against the rules, though personally I'd rather just see the accounts banned than them pulled from ebay... I don't want to have to deal with ebay idiots during a beta test And why the hell would you pay for a character during an early closed beta anyway... I can maybe understand if they were buying the account itself, but it's almost guaranteed that they'll have another pwipe within a month On to other things... EQ2 looked impressive untill I saw the last trailer (#7). Combat seems as boring as ever (or worst actually). Agreed but who knows, might turn out good. Wouldn't be too hard to beat wow, what a overrated peice of shit.

I got in during the last Phase 3 push and have been playing almost nonstop. I think about 85% of the mob killing I have done has been related to a quest. You get a ton of experience when you finish a quest, which is a very good incentive to do them (the actual story is good too). Coming from Warcraft3, I love this game. Seeing an Ancient of War walking around is amazing. I'm only a week in though. Guess we'll see how I feel in a month.
