Out of the Blue

I had a fairly chaotic week, with things mysteriously breaking, and all manner of plans running into all manner of complications. How quickly things can settle down... the roofers showed up yesterday and did a fine old job (though of course I am now eagerly awaiting our next insane downpour to confirm that their repairs are as effective as they look). After having my work computer crash more and more frequently as yesterday went on, I got lucky in diagnosing the problem (I'd honestly estimate that I suffered more than 50 crashes over the day... this makes effective troubleshooting problematic) as originating in my video card. Replacing this aging bit of hardware has solved the problem, and this machine is once again running like a Swiss watch. I even heard from the mechanic that the squealing brakes I asked him to look at were glazed rotors, rather than the wear indicators on the pads, so I don't need a brake job. I guess if I'm going to complain that when it rains it pours, then I must also acknowledge that when the sun shines, it really shines.

Sure you did - you expect us to swallow that tripe?

There's a man out there I haven't seen in 15 years who's trying to kill me.
