They said they were at 3500 feet which is over 2 miles. Airports are busy places and 2 miles is well within what you'd expect for closest point of contact. All the other photos on the site are real and quite a lot are surprising.

The 747 shot is clearly a photoshop. No air traffic controller would allow an aircraft within telephoto lens range of a plane carring hundreds of people. The shot is just silly if you think about it. Pretty good photoshop though.

Imagine for a minute that you're the guy taking that picture. How so? I just figured it was from a chopper with a zoom lens...perhaps I've missed something. Is there somewhere where they explain how the picture was taken (other than what's right below the image)?

I would like to add: temperature sensors are notoriously inaccurate; some can be off by 10 degrees or more! So you may want to give yourself some wiggle room with any manufacturer recommendations.

Did anyone else sit there looking at that thinking: What's the big deal... and then after about 10 seconds realise exactly what the big deal was?! You mean the fact that it's in the air?

I was thinking that, till I overclocked my barton 2500 to 3200 (from 333 FSB to 400) without it breaking a sweat (cheapo copper based heatsink). All it took was a few voltage adjustments and it has been working perfectly for the last few months (prime number tests, no overheating etc). Let me know how well it works 2 years from now.
No, you probably won't be using it as your main PC 2 years from now, but it'd make a great second system, server, system for a family member, etc.
Unfortunately, all the systems I've seen OC'd were useless after a couple years. The CPU or MB became unstable. I had a couple of old systems lying around that would've made great servers, but they were all unstable. So I had to drop some cash on a new MB/CPU just to put together a MP3/photo server (it's also a web server now, and will probably become a mail server shortly. Still nothing an Athlon 750 couldn't handle... if it were stable).
And, frankly, how much performance benefit did you really get out of it? Most of the benchmarks I see are <10%. Sure, an extra 8-9% for free is nice, but it's not like it used to be (Celeron 300A OC'd to 450 == 30% overall performance gain).
I know, I know. I'm an old fogie... I just got tired of having to futz with my computer all the time instead of just having it work.

I'm read so many threads where a game will act up, and the first thing support says is "don't overclock". Not sure if that's legit It's legit. I used to run my 2.4 at 3.2ghz, without problems. Then I started playing C&C Generals online with a buddy, and after a few hours, the game would crash. Running at 3.0Ghz fixed it. Generals is still the most demanding game I've seen, it was sad to read their forums and see so many people complaining how unstable the game was.

Still you have to think about your legend. Carlos the Jackal works. Carlos the Care Bear? Have you heard the legend about the 'Scourge of the Southwest', otherwise known as Carlos the Care Bear? and my CPU temperature varies by ~2 degrees C tops between "idle" (all CPU being consumed by distributed computing process) Your CPU is never idle then, as it's always being run at 100%. Try disabling your distributed client and I'm sure you'll get a pretty good delta.

Of course, I stopped OC'ing years ago. The benefits are so slim nowadays as to be useless IMO. I'm read so many threads where a game will act up, and the first thing support says is "don't overclock". Not sure if that's legit, or the gaming equivalent of "Did you reboot your machine and see if that fixed it?" (or perhaps a bit of both).

You need a better heatsink methinks. We/I was talking about a P4 with a factory heat-sink over-clocked. And of course when telling someone something it is always best to assume the worst, like say poor case ventilation causing it to be even higher.
Mine personally is over clocked ~20% with factory heat sink and it stays with ~1ºC of optimal even after hours of heavy load; but I also have great case ventilation.

And it will get at least 20ºF hotter then at idle. You need a better heatsink methinks.
I've got a Athlon64 3000+ w/ a Zalman AlCu-7000 running at "silent" (lowest possible fan speed) and my CPU temperature varies by ~2 degrees C tops between "idle" (all CPU being consumed by distributed computing process) and playing UT2k4 for 1-2 hours. Even from bootup it doesn't rise more than 4 degrees or so once the boot is finished.
Of course, I stopped OC'ing years ago. The benefits are so slim nowadays as to be useless IMO.

I know what you mean. 'The Gravemaker' would be some doofus that dropped his gun all the time whilst 'Popeye the sailor', would slit your throat, rape your wife and post a mutilated limb to your parents house every other month, along with his moniker can of spinach.
Still you have to think about your legend. Carlos the Jackal works. Carlos the Care Bear?

Thanks Enahs. I was looking through the wrong datasheet, which didn't help any. I decided to try and use ASUS' built in overclocking, and it seems to be working fine. Overclocked 20% (to 3.36 GHz) on the regular heatsink and fan and it's only hitting 50 C after heavy gaming (only a few degrees higher than before).
This isn't a good sign though. I never start to mess with overclocking until I'm ready for a new gaming rig--and I only built this one 8 months ago!
