Star Wars Battlefront Date

The Star Wars Battlefront Website has a newly narrowed down release date for LucasArts' upcoming multiplayer shooter. The game, which previously carried a Fall 2004 release date, has been pinned down specifically with a September 21, 2004 in-store date. Thanks Frans.

i know that i won't be buying this game since they released it on such an insensitive date. it would be plainly unpatriotic. it's okay if you all would like to forget but i never will.

I hope you are just trying to be funny...

Concerning Pandemic's ability to program a quality engine...well, check out the rundown of job openings they've got posted on their site:

Production: no open positions

Design: designer

Art: art director

Engineering: programmer, lead programmer, tools programmer, lead tools programmer, pc network programmer, pc interface compatibility programmer

Looks like they need a little help in that department.

Pandemic currently has no less than 2 major titles in full production with 2 more in pre-production (last I heard anyway). These are all AAA games BTW. They're quickly getting to be the Aussie equvilent of Raven Software.

Currently Playing - Soldner Beta, Joint Ops, UT2004.

those open positions are for games that havent even been designed yet

you might be surprised, but development studios usually have more than a few different teams of people working on projects

I hope this game turns out good. Does anyone remember the recent release of Terminator 3? I thought the concept of the game was soo cool, but when I downloaded the demo and played it. It was such a peice of crap, the graphics were ugly and playablity was worse than playing a re-release of Quake 2 today.

I thought that I'd read about another Star Wars FPS coming out that was more single-player oriented...or was it about this that I was reading? I could have sworn it had something to do with being from more of a soldier perspective than that of a Jedi.

Fine if you want to get anal about it guys.

    • Star Wars Battlefront( Trailer and Playable Demo - Now that the greatest Star Wars battles are on DVD, video game players can live them like never before in the new video game Star Wars: Battlefront from LucasArts, available for PlayStation(r)2, Xbox(r) and PC-CD. The STAR WARS TRILOGY DVD will offer a trailer featuring an exciting look at the video game, along with a special demo for Xbox users that lets users fight the Battle of Endor as a Rebel or Imperial soldier and drive AT-STs, ride speeder bikes and use different weapons to lead their side to victory. The full version of Star Wars Battlefront will also be released Sept. 21 for the PlayStation(r)2 computer entertainment system, Xbox(r) video game system from Microsoft, and PC.

What part of that is just word and not fact? The date was 9/21 and still is 9/21. Nothing has changed hence my comment about old news.

    SWG sucks.

Anyway, I am hoping those screenshots are from the Xbox and it looks like they are using some type of (lame) bloom effect.

    Questioning SW:B's gameplay and balance,

did ANYONE notice the fact that I said that this was probably screenshots of the PLAYSTATION 2 version??? Hence the graphics would indeed look like crap...

yes, and "probably" was the key word. you don't have proof. even so, aside from higher resolutions and maybe some better textures (if we're lucky), it's still more or less going to be a port. meaning that it's only going to look as good as the weakest system can handle, in this case, the PS2.

so long as it's fun, i don't mind. doesn't look THAT bad.

I fail to see a coincidence there. If it was on the *same* day as 9/11, then I'd understand.. but there's nothing strange about it being released 10 days after. The 21st is just another date.
