Kobalt, I really think you know little about graphics, and more specifically what does and does not 'look good' or what makes something 'look good' in the (low poly) world of games.

Even so, half of your point is sound: bloom does seem to be the next industry buzzword. But, hey, polygon was too, and some things just seem to stick, for some odd reason.

I am very interested to see...
1) How successful free MMOGs will be at supporting themselves.
2) What effect free MMOGs will have on the overall massive multiplayer market

Here's how Guild Wars works. They release the game along with 'additional content'. In order to get access to additional content you pay a small sum, maybe $0.50, maybe $1.00. Lets say that content is another dungeon. So long as one person in your party has paid for that content everyone else can enter.

A new class might be added...but you have to buy it first.

So if you're the powergamer type who likes to experience eveything....well it is going to cost you. Otherwise if you're the laid back type you might not have to shell much out at all.

The game graphics look like shit when you ignore the bloom effect that this and prince of persia had. Same thing with cel shading, tons of games will start using it because they can make a shitty engine look good.

Only an old one of E3 last year, that was before they had their new graphic engine (it looked pretty bad before, but now.. omg)

Looks VERY VERY impressive. PCGamer did a huge article on them last month, and it definitely looks like it might put a huge dent in the MMOG games, especially since it's free.

Graphically it's just awesome, and with former Blizzard gurus in charge, I think gameplay should be a solid bet as well.

It's high on my list.

Btw, this demo is on the current PCGamer's CD, so if you don't want to, or can't download the beta, pick up a PCGamer.

Hey what the hell, I didn't get my newest PCG yet, bastards!

I got my latest CGW like five days ago, though.

Really looking forward to the 12th. This game seems like a sort of weird mix between Diablo2 on bnet and a full-out mmorpg.
