I will play them all and enjoy everything that is good about each of them. I have nothing to do with the development of these games. I will enjoy no royalties or other payments for those that are successful. I will suffer no humiliation from those that sux0r.
Why people get so wrapped up poking fun at other fans is beyond me.

This entire post made me laugh at all those poor saps that spent so much money on a 9800XT w/ the free HL2 coupon, because I was almost one of them.
Do you laugh at people involved in accidents you manage to narrowly avoid?

And for those Farcry fanboys, Farcry is a good game, HalfLife2 will be a great game. Half Life 1 is still a better game the Farcry, only with outdated graphics (heck it's 6 years old). Farcry will fade away once HalfLife2 is out in 2006, years before DNF.

LOL.. this is too funny. This entire post made me laugh at all those poor saps that spent so much money on a 9800XT w/ the free HL2 coupon, because I was almost one of them. Now after a year since HL2 was announced, and ATI's 9800XT about to be crushed by a much superior Nvidia 6800 Ultra, and probably a follow up card from ATI (which probably won't have a coupon for HL3), I am sooo glad I didn't buy one and held onto my 9700 Pro and Geforce 4ti4600.

I think the min spec is because they eventually want to port the game to Xbox. With todays game's the min spec doesn't matter too mcuh past a certian point, because it's much more trivial to scale back all the graphical enhancements to run on an older system without hurting the high end. Of course, making a game JUST for Xbox, like DX2, can certainly ruin the design process. I hope they aren't doing THAT.

Cutedge: I wouldn't be suprised if Valve puts out TF2 for HL2 later, much like how they released TF1 about 3 months (?) after HL1 came out.

That wasnt TF1, that was TFC. the C stands for CLASSIC.
They released that because TF2 was going to be delayed for a few months.
TF1 was a mode for quake 1.

Although it's NOT clear, but I would take a guess that with games like Far Cry doing so well, gamers would really expect a magnitude better from Valve's HL2. Looking at the Strider videos just aren't so impressive anymore.
Valve can afford to go back to the drawing board and redo all the eye candy gaming essentials. Yeah and rethink the minimum spec of a 700MHz computer.
