Edit : The phone on the plane analogy is also wrong. I own the phone, but I do NOT own the plane. The plane is owned by someone else. Being inside their property means they can tell me what I can and cannot activate.
In case of the game, I OWN the game.
Sorry but no you do not. Try reading the EULA sometime. You are paying for the right to play the game, nothing more. You do not own the intellectual property at all.
The analogy between the plane and the phone is very valid. You could conceivably use a different frequency on your cell (like onboard phones do) but they dont want to risk it. They could conceivably allow you to use virtual drives, but it defeats the purpose of the CD protection to begin with now doesn't it?
Im going to continue to side with SafeDisc and other copy protection schemes on this one. If I was them I'd simply say tough luck to the handfull of people that are legitimately going to be affected by the disallowing of virtual drives (and we are seriously talking about a couple peopl). If those people really want to play the game they can just use the CD. If you can't spend $50 on a compatable CDRom, you have issues. Even still, they have released the CD fix (available on that Painkiller FAQ, but most of you trolls failed to even notice), so there really is no excuse for needing a virtual drive anyways.
