J/K: Right, but that doesn't necessarily prevent innovative developers from breaking any new ground, assuming they can find a publisher willing to take a risk. If the product is solid enough, you don't need the EA or UbiSoft logos attached to it to knock out a homer on the market.
This one is an interesting concept, at least, for whatever that's worth. It's hard to tell from the post whether it's pipe dreaming developers or just a bad translation. If it were Japanese, I'd write it off immediately as a transparent pretense for inserting an "eccentric (thirteen year old) girl" within a nipple-stiffening environment where a chill, haunting wind forever howls past to ruffle an inexplicably donned miniskirt.
Since the old Evil Empire has been doing a lot of good in the gaming world lately, we can reasonably hope they can pull off...whatever the fuck this is supposed to be.

publishers go more than anything else by what already has proven to sell. So they see let's say the UT4 sales numbers and you bet that the next thing they want is UT5. Only when they see proven products saturating the market and sales going down, they might consider something really new. Or what do you think why we get drowned in war themed games currently? Of course this is very simplified and generalized, but in the end that's the bottom line.

If I was a publisher or investor and I saw the reactions like I've seen in this thread, I'd be extremely hesitant to back it, when it might turn out to be a cool game.
Oh yes, I'm sure decisions on which games to publish or not are ALWAYS based on the reactions of some twenty odd forum nerds, somewhere on the Internet.
Hello? Do you even live on the same planet as we do? When the fuck did a publisher EVER give a fuck what people thought of anything?

obviously you never tried to get a deal with a publisher. it is guts, cause usually your chances for getting something signed that does not fit into the well known pigeon holes are slim.

| Its really not guts, its an attempt to grab some of the market. They know if they do a game in a popular style then it will just be another clone. If they do something original and do it decent enough to be fun, then they have created a new genere and reap the assoiciated rewards. |

Point taken. I'm just saying people like to crap all over or ignore games they see as "weird." It's like a kneejerk reaction - if they can't pigeonhole a game in under 3 seconds, they shrug it off and dump all over it without ever giving it a second thought.
If I was a publisher or investor and I saw the reactions like I've seen in this thread, I'd be extremely hesitant to back it, when it might turn out to be a cool game.
The fact this game isn't a WW2 shooter already has me at least interested in it. I'm sick and tired of sequelware and cloneware all the time.
I'm glad the developers in Europe and Asia tend to have the vision and guts to do something different.

Just because something is different dosen't make it good. If I cut of my penis and shoved it up my own ass it would be different but definately not good. Unless you're halsy and would like to see me preform said act, I hear he's got stacks of 8mm films...
I should note I have no opinion of this game.

I hope all you premature haters of this game drown under the waves of mediocre clones you only seem to want. Thanks for helping further water down an already stagnant industry.
You just made the conservative, money-centric publishers all very happy. I'm sure they've just approved the next batch of sequels for you based on these reactions alone.

Writing misleading Press Releases while banging an intern.
Shit, sign me up!
A bizarre combination of first-person game, role-playing features, non-linear plot and real time flow;
Read : We have no design document, and basically no idea what on earth we're actually trying to make. We're coming up with this shit as we go.
Well-balanced proportion of random factors and pre-arranged events;
If your random factors are well-balanced, are they still random?
3 heroes act independently: when one chosen, the two rejected heroes act on their own, plotting against the player
The last bit seems pretty interesting, although it will require some funky AI to pull that off...

couldn't agree more. especially on the slamming. this has just gotten completely absurd. games already get slammed for their anouncement.. ages before a demo or anything that shows what a game actually pulls off or doesn't.

Calm down, people. So what if the wording of the description is a bit intentionally elaborate. I kinda liked it myself -- I suspect the style ties in somewhat with the art direction and such. Why do people feel the need to slam people for announcing a list of features? Just ignore the game if you don't think it's worth your time.
We get almost no horror-themed first-person games, let alone ones that actually sound interesting(!), so I for one am excited to read this. The list of features is very promising, so they could have a fine game on their hands if they manage to pull it off.
A note to the developers, though: Please please do not underestimate the immense value of good voice acting in a game such as this. Bad voice acting WILL kill your atmosphere.

when I first glanced at such a large block of yellow text, I was expecting to see DOOM 3 GONE GOLD as the subtitle, as I'm guessing could possibly happen any day now (or just as easily not happen for another 6 months).
The lack of any significant gaming news recently does seem to point to an immenent major release though.

""Yes! And the special weapon for that class will be the "Frivolous Lawsuit +5" !!!""
LOL... this reminds me of that old story with Bill Gates character sheet from D&D
http://www.theonion.com/onion3121/billgates.html
Microsoft head Bill Gates, already considered by many to be among the most powerful men in the world, further increased his powers Monday, augmenting several of his key statistics to near-immortal levels.
Among the most striking increases were a +2 raise in dexterity to 18, and an overwhelming charisma increase to an above-human score of 20, placing Gates in the realm of deities and demigods. _____________________________________________ Give me slack.
