On the Orbital side of things - I think you already know about http://www.loopz.co.uk. They tend to be the best place to look for Orbital info. I haven't heard Octane, but it didn't sound too amazing... a soundtrack for a film that's apparently rubbish? loopz was where I saw mention of the new Orbital album...
I wouldn't waste your money on Octane w/o listening to it first...it's very slow. I kept skipping tracks, trying to find the "Orbital Movie soundtrack" sound (like Technologique Park (spelling approximate), on the xxx soundtrack), but it just wasn't there...
Middle of Nowhere is still my favorite, but I'm more familiar with their newer stuff than their old...Satan is still my favorite track.
From loopz:
2004 - New Orbital Album will create SPARKS The next Orbital album is finished and will be released in 2004. There is no planned release date at time of writing but when we do get one it will be printed here.
The new album features a variety of collaborations including Sparks, Lisa Gerrard and Instrumental.

To be honest, although I've got quite a few CDs (of the order of 600 or so, plus about 100 records), it's my flatmate that's the real music collector. We've recently started categorising our records and CDs, which is a step forward... but actually indexing and cataloging them is something that we've not really thought about. We've recently put all our CD singles into MP3 format, which really helps when playing with mixes and at parties...

The Altogether was good, but not as "epic" feeling as the other two. I don't think they've ever beaten The Box, and part of me doubts they ever will. Still, we all live in hope!
I'm sure everyone else has now completely lost interest in this thread. Ah well.
Obviously, you're also welcome to email me, Nin...

Between my flatmate, my girlfriend, and I, we own about 4000 CDs and about 2500 records, so I can usually find something interesting to listen to.
Damn! I think I've got somewhere around 1200 (cds), but I'm not sure...
Have you heard of http://www.readerware.com/ ? I snagged a copy and am now cataloging my collection, since it's getting to the point that I'm not sure which mixes I do or don't have...
BTW (since you mentioned Orbital), I saw on their page the other day that they're prepping a release for later this year. Hopefully better than "Octane", which put me to sleep...

Ray,
Cheers for that - I'm quite a fan of Ladytron, and almost all of their associated remixes. I saw them live a couple of years back, which was a very "female Kraftwerk", fun experience.
I listened to the Fairlight Children samples and enjoyed them greatly. If you like that kind of thing, another band from Germany that you might like are the Frikateers (http://www.frikateers.com) - they're a duo, one of whom I went to school with. An interesting mix of acoustic and electronic - the same sense of emotion mixed with technology as FC, I'd say.
I'm pretty much the same as you with music. When I'm working, I need something energetic and fairly repetetive, so I own a LOT of Global Underground mix albums etc. For home listening, I'm much more diverse. Between my flatmate, my girlfriend, and I, we own about 4000 CDs and about 2500 records, so I can usually find something interesting to listen to.
Long-term favourites of mine include Faithless, Orbital, Tim Hutton, Guns n Roses (a childhood memory more than anything), Wagner, Holst, Air (specifically their first and 3rd albums), and a few others I've forgotten momentarily
Recently, I've been enjoying Alabama 3, Jon Carter, Kenji Kawai (who did the music for Ghost in the Shell), and putting together odd mixes which incorporate as much of my musical tastes as possible... the current one has taken over 9 months of work in Acid, and I'm still not happy with it. Ah well, I'm technical, not creative
Ray, if you'd like to take this conversation off the public boards, by all means drop me an email... the address should be in my profile.
Cheers,
Rolphus

Nothing to do with me personally, it is just something that I am interested in. I am rather...eclectic with my music choices. Besides having a wide range of music (classical, techno, new age, pop. goth, etc.), I can go months or years without purhcasing any new titles...only to suddenly purchase a massive number of titles in a short span.
The latter happened recently. I ended up picking up Wolfsheim's (http://www.wolfsheim.de/engl_menu_index.htm) latest and really enjoyed it - I think it is one of their best. Getting back into music for a bit, I hopped over to see if Apoptygma Bezerk (http://www.apoptygmaberzerk.de/) had anything new. There was not any new AB information, but that is when I stumbled upon its "Sideproject" of Fairlight Children.
Needless to say, I really enjoyed the FC samples and have pre-ordered the official release due this coming Monday.
Of course, I managed to jump from their site and get hooked on Ladytron (http://www.ladytron.com/,) but that is a whole different matter. In the past month or so, I have purchased...probably upward of twenty new CDs from a number of places.
One of my current new (to me) favorites is The Faint's (http://www.thefaint.com/) Danse Macabre. I like it so much that I will have to buy the remix version of the album later today...
Knowing what I do like, just not what I would like ;), Ray

While I like the idea of having two separate weapons available at the same time, the whole game sounds like a bad remix of Serious Sam.
Next game to have a 'leaked' alpha/beta/delta/gamma/whatever demo in 3... 2... 1...

I just got done playing co-op lan and it was fun but something seems wrong as we used to play Serious sam 1 and 2nd encounter and always seemed smooth even internet and this was very laggy, we also played the second level and with "infinite ammo" on we ran out of ammo and picking up ammo did nothing. I still think it's fun though.

Uhh, It is pretty obvious in the button config the reload button
It is? damn missed it by a mile then!
Having said that i got extremly bored of the walking and oh so plain levels.
The juggle feature is novel, however it only works if there is only a few enemys about, you get a small horde and you can fugged about it.
I dont think the machine gun can juggle them either, which sucks a little, having said that maybe my aim just isnt great.
But as i said before, the thing that really gets me, is when they get close to you and suddenly accelerate, ruins any tense closeup battle which would normally be spent dodging and shooting, to u getting hit before u even know they are there!

I think it is fun running around with the two shotguns blazing into enemies. But the “leaked” demo was better in that you could juggle enemies in the air longer, that was fun!
Ahh well

Ahhh, so tis the serious sam engine! which doesent explain why it doesent like running at high levels of detail (gets occasionally jerky).
Also, u spend like 10mins walking and then 30secs killing bad guys, its really dumb. couple that with no obvious reload feature unless you switch weapons.
oh yeah enemys are dumb and if they get close to you they jump damn fast, which reduces any clsoe up firefights to crap.
oh yeah and the music is dumb, repetitive and realyl really annoying.

I will always hate starwars, as the only cool part about it was ruined for me. Before seeing the movies I knew Vader was his dad so I find it impossable to relate to anyone that did get suprised by it. No joke, ahhh its good to be free from one part of the consumer-whoreness, yay for Pariahs!
BTW you can catch fire from lava without even touching it, it superheats the surrounding air so much that, FLASH, you're on fire. It's impossable, force or no force, to survive falling in lava.
And if you don't like my non spoiler talk too bad, i'm bitter for the above reasons.
Thats right i'm so fucking mad because of a movie... or not... its probably my lack of eating food.

Appologies to those who disagree, but this demo suck. And there's no redeeming qualities that I can see other than the two gun feature. Combos??? How retarded. I can honestly say that I've never seen enemy movement done so badly. That may not seem like such a big deal until you actually play the demo. I normally don't ever post to flame a game (especially a demo version). What's the point? You don't like it, delete it, move on. But this demo sucks bad enough to piss me off. What an utter waste of a fine, fine engine. The thing I don't get is that Serious Sam came out 3 years ago and looked and played 10 times better than this piece of trash. 3 years! You'd think there would be some improvements somewhere, anywhere? Dunno.... To those who like it, more power to ya.

I do find it ironic (if the pic is genuine) that Lucas has stuck to his original plan for that part of the story...
Spoiler for the 2 of you that haven't heard: It's been rumored for YEARS that Vader falls into lava, causing the burns...
As much as George likes to change stuff over the years, I'm surprised that part of the story may stay the same...

Vaders line "I am your father Luke" is up there with Eastwoods "go ahead, make my day" as one of the top ten most oft quoted movie lines of all time.
besides, anyone who hasn't seen at least the first two Star Wars movies should be stoned to death

Yeah, he should have posted a warning, but are you REALLY surprised? The spoiler isnt what happens Spoiler tag: I thought everyone knew anakin was young darth vader, the spoiler is seeing how they made hime burned etc, and what this will look like in the movie, Im not a SW fan myself, and practically couldnt care less, but its still lame to post that link w/o warning
